I made it three whole days without a migraine!! That's the first time since mid-October when they went bat-crazy. My head feels stable, not iffy like it's been for the past six weeks. Could be prodrome energy euphoria and be getting one right now, but still made it three whole days!!!

For those of you who tuned in late, I got kicked into a wicked episode of back to back beasties by some progesterone I had to take for a gyno problem. My mig spec put me on Frova 2.5mg twice a day as a preventive for 30 days. IT WORKED!!! He said it was to buy me time while my hormones settled down again. I say bless him!!!

I saw him today and he said I can keep taking the Frova for the time being. He has about a dozen patients in his practice that do it. Count me in!!! It's like a miracle drug for me. (We're working on the insurance company approval -- per my doc, they don't care about off-label use for cheap meds, but they instantly disapprove anything expensive! Like an ER visit would be cheaper?????!!!!!)

I also take Imitrex for breakthrough migraines and have been successful using it as a preventive too. Who knew??!! The doc says it has to do with marketing and FDA approval technical details. But since we can't find an anticonvulsant that I can tolerate, it's nice to know that triptans can be used as preventives too.

(And thanks in advance for your concern but I DO NOT have MOH. The doc ruled that out when I first saw him two years ago. Just so you don't worry!)

Hallelujah!!! Merry Christmas!!! Happy New Year!!! I'm so thrilled!!! (Can't you tell??!! Big Grin )

(I'm 55, have had severe migraines for over 4 years due to menopause, plus I have fibromyalgia. I take Imitrex plus Anaprox as an abortive and am working with my migraine specialist to find a preventive. I keep a detailed migraine diary and have made significant lifestyle changes to reduce my risk of migraines.)

Made it four days, then got one yesterday which came back today. Going full bed rest tomorrow to see if I can make it quit.

Got another two day stretch migraine free before getting one today. So that's a two day mig, four days okay, two day mig, two days okay, makes 6 of 10 days mig free!!!! That's much better than I was doing the six weeks before that, so the Frova is obviously helping stabilize me. Bless Dr. Green!! Cross my fingers, but I sure hope I'm never that sick again. That was too much.
