When Migraine abortive medications fail or if we can't take abortive medications, we often turn to rescue medications. Many of these medications contain acetaminophen. Actually, even one of our abortive medications contains acetaminophen -- Midrin.

This makes me wonder how many of you have been following the headlines about acetaminophen and medications made with it...

Among other things, an FDA panel has recommended banning all medications that are a combination of acetaminophen and an opioid. That would include Vicodin, Percocet, Lortab, Norco, Fioricet with codeine, and many more...

Found out more in Acetaminophen for Your Migraines? The FDA May Ban Some Medications.

This would not include vicoprofen though, correct (opiate with ibuprofen)? I think/hope that keeps one of my rescue meds safe . . . ?

I find this to be a very terrifying thought.

BethEllen,

That I know of, Vicoprofen would not be part of this, since it does not contain acetaminophen. Vicodin, yes, but vicoprofen, no - that is until the FDA decides to ban that too! Roll Eyes
