No matter how effective our preventive regimen is, we're going to be struck with a Migraine from time to time.

To make those Migraines easier to deal with, let's form a Migraine Action Plan and Pack, let's MAPP them. MAPP stands for Migraine Action Plan and Pack. Put your organizational skills to work and plan ahead to reduce the impact of Migraines and increase both your quality of life and your family's. We'll show you how...

Teri -

What a helpful article! I've worked with my clients on putting together just this kind of plan. Thanks for putting these ideas and info all together in one place, so clearly!

Thanks Teri! Great article! Big Grin

I'm pretty prepared for migraines. You'd be amazed at how much stuff I keep with me when I leave the house! But this gave me a few ideas for extra stuff to bring along.

For instance, the Be Kool packs! Never thought of keeping those in my purse!

I always have big shades and ear plugs with me! I learned that the hard way when I had to take public transit home once during a mig.

Here is another thing in my MAPP. My blood sugar dropping can trigger migraines for me (borderline hypoglycemic), so I never leave the house with out a couple of high protien granola bars too!

You're welcome, Kat! The granola bars are a great idea.

You sound like me. My daughter in-law was sure she could eliminate some things from my purse. She was shocked not only by all that's in it, but by there not being anything in there that I should leave home without taking it. Big Wink

kduch,

Good deal! I use a light-weight nylon tote bag that I keep in the hall closet. If I'm struck quickly and hard, my husband can grab it for me. When I travel, it's read to throw in the car or stick in my suitcase.

Hope you find it helpful! Flower

Dearest Teri Guru,

Thanks for a great suggestion. I have mine in the front hall closet ready to go. The only thing I have to add on the way out the door is the bottle of water from the fridge (filled with tap water over and over so as not to add plastic bottles to our landfill). That way if I need to take pills I can do it immediately.

If you mentioned this in the article, which you probably did, forgive me, my migrained brain missed it.

Also, I was wondering if I could ask your help on something. I'll click on your email address one of these days when I have the energy.

Thank you, Angel Teri!

(I'm 55, have had severe migraines for over 4 years due to menopause, plus I have fibromyalgia. I take Imitrex plus Anaprox as an abortive and am working with my migraine specialist to find a preventive. I keep a detailed migraine diary and have made significant lifestyle changes to reduce my risk of migraines.)

Laura Sue,

Glad you found it helpful.

I take water everywhere I go. I don't prepack it either. I want it to be fresh. We buy bottled water, but use it sparingly. I have insulated drink containers that I usually fill with filtered water or iced tea.

I'll be glad to help you. Drop me a note.
