Teri (et al),
I ordered your book from Amazon and it arrived Christmas Eve. I have to tell you, it is an awesome book. Thank you for having written it. There is just so much information and so many things that are excellent to have as references. I like it even better than Dr. Young's book, which up until now, has been my go to book for questions and answers. I plan to use your book to come up with a list of questions to ask Dr. Young when I see him 1/14... we're at a bit of a crossroads in my treatment after my spinal tap ruled out IIH... time for me to do my homework, I think. Again, thank you for writing this book... I feel like everyone suffering from Migraine should have a copy. Betsy Daily Chronic Migrainess since 1996 |

Hi, Betsy!
I've had a note here on my desk to be sure to post to you since I first saw that Dr. Young is your doctor. You'll find him mentioned several times in my book, including in the notes from doctors at the beginning. He wrote quite a nice letter to my editor to be included in the book. It's wonderful that you're finding it helpful. What I learned from Dr. Young helped me both with my own Migraines and headaches AND with writing the book. He was very supportive. When you see him on the 14th, please tell "Harry Potter" that I send him a hug? Thanks, and you're very welcome, Betsy. Welcome to the forum "family." We share and learn a lot here.

He does totally look like Harry Potter... that is too funny.
I always think of him as 'The Wizard' as in, "We're off to see the wizard... the wonderful wizard of Oz!" I think that because it feels like so many levels of things you have to get through (making an appointment, taking train to city, waiting for hours, talking to intake nurse, waiting for hours and then... finally... 'The Wizard!) Your book is written for the patient... his book is written for professionals, it feels like. I'm glad you also have the pleasure of having him as your Dr. Such a nice, down-to-earth, kind and gentle man. Betsy Daily Chronic Migrainess since 1996 |

Betsy,
I quite openly call him Harry Potter when I see him, and I'm not the only one! I can follow why you think of him as the "Wizard." It's an eight-hour drive for me, so I have to make the appointment and a hotel reservation, drive 8 hours, spend the night, have my appointment the next morning, then drive 8 hours home. The PA turnpike isn't exactly my idea of the "yellow brick road." LOL! Hmmmmmmmmmm. Well, his book was supposedly written for patients too. It was to be the first in a series of books written for patients and published by the American Academy of Neurology. Still, a doctor just doesn't talk like a patient. You're right about what he's like. He's genuinely a nice man. These days, with my Migraines pretty well controlled, I see him pretty much at conferences only. I haven't been to the clinic in a couple of years. He really turned things around for me!
