I like Reglan and Phenergan. They work great as long as I can keep them down. I used to have a suppository of some sort, but I haven't had those for years. They worked great, though. Might try to get them again, come to think of it.
The Tangerine Sour Altoids are often a lifesaver for me, too. I try to keep them on hand with all my other go-to treatments. Wow- that's cool- Never heard of that. Do you happen to know if they have splenda (sucralose) in them? If not, I've got to try those! |

Jamie,
None of the regular Altiods have sucralose in them. I don't know about any diet Altiods. Regular Altiods are made with REAL sugar, and, I believe, mostly natural flavorings. The ginger Altiods help me sometimes. "Real" Coke, or any other non-diet soda with phosphoric acid in it, helps with the nausea. Also, try putting the phenergan, or whatever, tablets under your tongue. The medicine is absorbed through your mucous membranes VERY quickly. I usually chew mine up & hold them in my mouth with a swig of water. Good luck to all! Rebecca |

i thought i had replied to this thread, but it looks like not. i can't find my response, anyways! so i'll share what works for me -- i think most have already been mentioned.
i usually proceed in this order...and stop (of course) once i get the nausea/vomiting under control. 1 - eating something bland, sometimes i'm hungry and don't realize it 2 - mint gum 3 - ginger tea 4 - 7up 5 - Emetrol, an OTC nausea syrup 6 - Reglan, my prescription anti-nausea pill i'm gonna go peruse all the suggestions and see if i can find any new ideas! emily |

I have seen sugar-free Altoids a couple of times. I think they had aspartame as a sweetener, because I remember avoiding them.
The tangerine sours have sugar alone, I believe. I used to get them once in a while. I'm not into grapefruit or apple, so I never got those. I like the cinnamon ones, and occassionally, the black licorice ones. Dragondrool Forum Moderator ~~8=:>>>> |

This is a great post - didn't even have to ask the question myself.
When I was a kid it was always Coke Classic or 7Up but it had to be "flat" - shake it up so the carbonation comes out. Doesn't taste very good that way but sometimes the carbonation makes the stomach crankier. I have to say so far the peppermint oil has been really good - the smell of it anyway. I really don't like the smell at all myself but my stomach seems to for some reason. Crackers or toast work for me also but only for a short while and then I feel like I'm always eating! Laurelin |

Speaking of Altoids - I'm going to rant for a minute here.

my neighbor had me drink some ginger or peppermint tea, she also put peppermint oil on both temples and left to right across my forhead. it was very over powering but after a while; it actually relieved some of my pain.she said that she would show me where to pick up some of the oil so i can try it my self.she also addvised me to try to sit in a very hot bath while the oil is on my forehead and drinking the tea.im am unable to take medication,so i have to find other means to work out the tummy and head

I usually take 2 gravel pills at home. If i go to emerg they give me IV Gravel and Maxeran+Benedryle (benidryle for the jitters that i get from maxeran). Each person is different but i agree that throwing up is terrible.

I have always had stomach troubles even as a small child, so when I got migraines, I got extreme nausea and throwing up that went along with it. Fortunately, phenergan helps me with that. Also, aromatherapy helps alot- peppermint oil mixed with almond, eucalyptus, and lavender( I make my own and put it in a roll-on container I ordered on line). I mentioned this in another thread and Teri said be sure to never use peppermint oil straight on your skin without blending it with something else. This helps me tremendously.

Hi everyone!
This latest post reminded me of something I purchased years ago, but still have. It's called MIGRASTICK, and it comes in a tiny roll-on, and has 100% pure & natural peppermint oil (and it specifically states to keep away from eyes and other mucosa), and Lavender It's made by: Health from the Sun and they list a phone # too: 1-800-447-2249 Anyhow, I use it on occasion on my temples & forehead and just below my cheekbones. I don't know if they're still in business, but it's worth a toll-free call anyhow! JUST MAKE SURE IT DOESN'T GET IN YOUR EYES! Love to all! CJ |

I saw a roll-on migraine stick at one of our health food stores here a year or so ago. I don't know if it was Migrastick or something else entirely, though. But for anyone that has used them in the past and found them helpful, that's an outlet to try. On a related note, I have a friend that used to massage Mentholatum on her temples for headaches. She found that soothing. It seems to me several of these kind of products I read about had menthol.
