so, i'm pretty sure that this is a migraine that the amitriptyline couldn't stop completely.
it started with a feeling of pressure at my temples pushing out, then if i looked left at all there is a sharp stabbing pain in my temple (where my migraines usually are). then the pain hit, stabbing in both temples, then it moved to the opposite temple where it still is (though somewhat less) i took a couple of ibuprofin and it sort of worked. that's about as much as i can do. i was just wondering if anyone else had the pain sharpen when you moved your eyes. |

Ibuprofen never helped my migraines at all- the test for me is movement- any sort of movement at all makes my headache worse if it's a migraine.

for me the ibuprofen SOMETIMES works since i started taking amitriptyline daily, which is good because by the time i realize it's a migraine, it's too late for me to take my imatrex.

I'm with Valerie on this one, when I move during a migraine the pain level rises. Being in the car during a migraine is awful!!

Have you tried taking your Imitrex after the attack has started? It often works for me. It doesn't take it to a 0, but getting to a 1 or 2 is great.

i wasn't clear before. when i said looked left...i mean when i moved my eyes to the left and kept my head still. it was like my eyes were connected to my temple and when i moved my eyes it stabbed something into my temple.
also, as for the imatrex. if i have any hope of the imatrex working at all (which is usually like 70% working when it does, if it does) i usually had to take it within 20 to 30 minutes of my aura starting otherwise it wouldn't work at all. now, because of the amitriptyline i take, i don't get auras. so by the time i figure out that it's a migraine, it's too late for the imatrex. |

So you don't try to abort the migraine with Imitrex at all now? I would still try...
I get the pain you are talking about. That is sometimes how I can tell it's a migraine and not a headache or TTH. If I just look left or right with my eyes only, not moving my head, and I feel a pull or tension - yep, migraine!
