Oh, well I used to be the vomit girl. Every time I'd migraine, I'd get sick. It was horrible. I still get symptoms, but I get like a heartburn, burping thing first - I know totally sexy right! But I've found pepto to be my BFF.
I was scripted Tigan - to be honest with you I've not had nausea bad enough where I've had to take it yet. Back in the day - I used to pray to get sick. Once I actually did, then it was almost like the tension in my head released and I started to feel better. Now - I do all I can NOT to get sick - because once I start - I can't stop. Unfortunately, my migraines begin with nausea, which inevitably leads to vomiting. I will vomit so much that I end up in ER dehydrated.
My neuro told me some people puke more with migraines. and handed me a script for Oral Zofran. Like I can keep a pill down after puking my gutsout. But I keep trying. Coke, peppermint candies, crackers, gatorage. I am beginning to despise my throne. I scrub the darned thing every day and it's still gross to have to lean over it. current migraine regimine: Zomig Nasal Spray 5 mg Migranal 4 mg Depakote 500 mg Lexapro 20 mg Lorazepam 1 mg Indomethacin 25 mg Zofran 4 mg |

I have SEVERE vomiting with my migraines, so I have to take phenergan suppositories- not fun, but going to the ER after 3 straight days of throwing up with a migraine isn't either! I feel for you!

Momof2, you may want to ask your doc about getting one of the anti-nausea meds in another form. Phenergan is available as both an injection and as a suppository, so your body can still absorb it even if you're vomiting. I'm not sure about the other nausea meds. But this may be a better option for you than trying to keep down the pills.

My son used to vomit with every single migraine when he was much younger. Then he went many years without vomiting. Wouldn't you know it, he threw up with a migraine last night. Weird how the migraines can change. The zofran also comes in a dissolvable tablet. You just stick it under your tongue and it dissolves so you don't have to worry about trying to keep it down. Ask your doc for that. Jean Ann |
