Good afternoon,

I still have a bit of a brain fog, this would be day 4. I called the docotor on call and has told me to up my fluids. I called my doctor is morning and no call back yet. I would like to know how everyone else dealt with brain fog? Why might I get a feeling of faint and a matallic taste in my mouth. Just wanted to know. I don't have pain at the moment.

You may just be having an extended postdrome, but I would ask the doctor about that when he calls.

Fluids are important especially to migraineurs, since dehydration can contribute to a lot of our problems...My doc always wants me on Gatorade during the summer. I drink a ton of water anyway.

I really hope you get some answers soon. Please feel better!

Hi Dutchess,

Leeloo might be right and good thing you have a call into your doctor. Did you start any new meds or up any?? Just curious, because I think some meds (blood thinners, topa) can ulter your taste and cause you to feel dizzy. Let us know what the doctor says and hang in there Group Hug

Well doctor call and wants to see me, but doesn't know what to do with me. Face is still numb. I guess I'll just hang in there and wait it out. They did say they don't think its my meds. I'm scared to take anything. It just takes me a little longer to get anywhere.

Thank you for you imput. Thanx

Dutchess

I'm glad you've got an appointment lined up with your doctor. When do you go?

When I've had a really severe Migraine it takes me a day or two to fully recover. The last severe Migraine I had happened last week, it was the worst I've had in years and I landed in the ER three times, ugh! But, they pumped me full of fluids each time I went and I don't even get any nausea with my Migraines, and the fluids really do help. My specialist also recommened putting a touch of salt in some of my drinks during the summer to prevent dehydration.

Anyway, it took me a good four or five days to recover from that Migraine. My body just felt like it had been hit by a truck.

I hope you're feeling better today Group Hug

I think I commented in another thread the other day about dealing with brain frog. Still no magic answers for you, I'm afraid. But I can add that I notice the effects of brain frog more when I'm tired and run down. Though it's not a "cure", when I'm brain frogged and feeling rather tired, that's when I start ditching time commitments and the like. I dial it back and look after me a bit more. If I don't, I'm inviting a stretch of full-out exhaustion. If I do, sometimes the extra rest and better limits minding do help it to clear a bit faster.

It's not getting better and the doctor want me to take Depakote and I'm very very scared to take it.

I seem to be real touchy with meds. My Doctor told me that I need to stop tell her what drug I can and cannot take. I need to see the same neruo that told me he didn't treat pain.

I've learn so much here. I just have a bad feeling about anti-seizure meds. It took me a long time to get over the last 2 the doctor gave me. I guess anti-seizure meds do stop the pain, but still the side effect I get. Sorry folks I'm just scare.

I give up. Doctor wants to help but is pushy. I just waited for my ride after my appt. and I cried and didn't stop. I'll take it and bad or good just take it. I 'm tired of being sick and no getting well.

Sorry my mood is just bad today. Mad Crying

Here's hoping

Hi Dutchess,

I am so sorry you are having a rough time, Group Hug Group Hug Group Hug Hugs, to you, my friend!! Don't give up, I know this disease stinks!! but know we are here for you!!

This is not the new doctor your seeing, right??. In my opinion, If this doctor is not working for you and you feel he/she is pushing you to take something you are not comfortable with, you need a new doctor.

For example, my Migraine Specialist works with me, deciding my treatment plan together, including pain management.

Also, if you have question regarding any new meds, you can always ask on the forum or look up the side effects here (which you probably already know) I know it is scary starting new meds, but the more knowledge we have, sometimes it makes it easier.

Again, sweetie, don't give up, there is light at the end of the tunnel, you just need to find the right doctor to help you get there Flower

I'm sorry you're feeling so low.

I think Dar is spot on. It doesn't sound like this doctor wants to work with you. If you've had bad experiences with two different anti-seizure meds, then it's only natural to have some apprehensions about trying others. It's possible that the Depakote won't have those same side effects that you had with the other meds. But if you're petrified to try a particular med, then your feelings should be taken into consideration, too.

Maybe it's time to try a different class of meds altogether, at least for now. If things don't improve, maybe down the road you might feel more comfortable trying Depakote. Right now, it sounds like your doctor isn't very receptive to this. I pick up a "my way or the highway" tone. It may be that she's frustrated at not finding something helpful for you yet. But forcing a med choice that someone's scared of, when there are plenty of less scary options, just can be so wounding. It's your body, and you have to have some control over what you agree to put in it. If your doctor can't see that, then maybe it's time for a new doctor. You need a doctor that will be understanding and will hope with you. You don't need a doctor's appointment that makes you sit and cry after.

Group Hug I so wish I had the perfect doctor for you, with just the perfect regimen in mind. But I have lots and lots of smooshes to help cushion the speed bumps the migraine journey can bring with it. You may have all you want, with extras to spare. Group Hug
