I had a very strange experience this morning and wonder if any of you have had similar experiences or if I'm just going crazy!
I had a very vivid and long (so it seemed) dream that awoke me this morning. I dreamed that I had tried to close myself into a room made of bars to keep this monster from getting me. It had multiple arms which could reach right through the bars and kept pinching me with its claws. In addition, it had ten or so eyes which glowed a freakish green. This thing made a high pitch hissing sound. Now, it doesn't take a shrink to figure it out. I call my migraines "the beast" and when I awoke I had an excrutiating migraine and lots of visual disturbances in the same places that the "eyes" had been. I'm guessing my migraine manifested itself in a dream and awoke me, but still. . . it totally creeps me out. I did take two doses of Nubain yesterday evening/night and maybe that contributed to it. But I've never had such a vivid and scary dream!! I've had lots of dreams about not being able to work or losing my house and other anxiety dreams, but this was totally differerent! So, am I insane or have any of you experienced really bad dreams that incorporated your migraines? That would be creepy!
I don't think I've ever dreamed with migraine manifesting itself in the dream. I do, however, sometimes dream I have to whizz when I have to literally whizz. It's almost like it's my system's way of waking me up so I can go see to it, I think. That's pretty crazy, too, really. Dragondrool Forum Moderator ~~8=:>>>> |

when you wrote that i can think of one specific even in college-
i sleeping. and i was dreaming that i was in a fight and continuously getting hit in the head, i've never gotten in a fight, which was soooo odd.... i woke up mid dream and i had the meanest migraine, nausea and all, ever, i didn't think i was going to get back to sleep. but one of the oddest things that i can remember, was that when i woke up not only did my head hurt but my hand hurt too, because i was unconsciously hitting the wall. i've never had a dream like that again, although i've had some other dreams where i've woken up with pain. best. I will dream about migraines and wake up with one if it is severe enough.
The most memorable time this happened I dreamed I was on a date with Bruce Willis and I was so sick I had to excuse myself to be ill in the bathroom. I never made it back to dinner with Bruce; I woke up with my head on fire. Otherwise I will dream/see very vivid aura and wake up in pain. Which freaks me out a little. www.aloofelf.blogspot.com www.twitter.com/leeloosmigraine My disabling chronic illness is more real than your imaginary medical expertise. |

I have to admit that I really appreciate y'all sharing your experiences - even though you have them and it's no fun - because there is a part of me that was really wondering if I was totally losing it!!
I doubt a person without migraines could possibly know hom much them mess with you emotionally!! YES!!! That happened two nights ago!!!
First, I should explain that I am a freelance animator. I'm currently learning (and struggling) with 3D animation, as I tend to be more of a Disney-type 2D animator, but I need to learn the 3D to keep up with the industry. I've been stressing this week on a school assignment where I had to create a 3D character, and it's been really hard for me to wrap my mind around the software, as I'm used to just drawing my characters. Well, two nights ago I went to sleep and was awakened in the middle of the night in a weird half awake/half-dreaming state. I had this odd sense that my head was a "grid" and that I had to move the "vertexes" of it around on the pillow or it wouldn't "render" right and might explode. I was very concerned about it and remember gently placing my head in a new position on my pillow before realizing that this didn't really make much sense. I tried to tell myself that I must be dreaming and tried to force myself to go back to sleep. And sure enough, I woke up the next morning with an awful migraine. Odd, isn't it?!? |
