So I have been diagnosed with Hemiplegic Migraines. However, today at work I am experiencing numbness all over my face not just on one side. I have no other symptoms like pain in my head and/or light sensitivity. I also have twinges of numbness down my right arm but it's not like my migraine numbness. Is this something anybody else has had? I had a HM about 5 days ago but the numbness was brief and on my left side. Now i'm afraid I have something else wrong with me. HELP!!

Hi,
I too have FHM. No I've never had numbness on both sides of my face, only the left. Since it's not like what you're used to experiencing, call your doctor. I see you posted yesterday. Are you feeling better today? Tonya |

I am feeling better today however I am still experiencing the same symptom every once in a while. It isn't anything like my normal HM symptom. It is just slight twinges of numbness in my lips, and or cheeks. I read it could be my anxiety. But it's definitely new.
It is kind of hard to know when to go see your doctor and when not to. My anxiety "coach" tells me that I need to understand that everybody's body has weird feelings throughout the day and it's normal and I need to relax. |

I know it's hard to know when to seek help. It takes time to get to know HM and how it affects your body, what's normal and what's not. Do you keep a medical diary? Maybe some trigger is occurring on those days when you do have these twinges. I find the diary gives me the control, especially with when we have such little of it.
Be well, Tonya |

Facial numbness can go hand in hand with numbness. The left side of my face often goes numb with migraines. Sometimes, that numbness sets in early, and is the first sign I'm getting slammed. Even though I know it's temporary, and harmless, it can definitely be annoying.
There are other things that can cause numbness, too. Anxiety is one. Another is an electrolyte imbalance. Facial numbness around the lips and cheek could be signs of a low calcium level. I've been there, done that. You might ask your doctor to check your calcium levels, particularly if you have any sore or stiff muscles. Dragondrool Forum Moderator ~~8=:>>>> |
