Until I started Topamax a couple of years ago the pattern of my migraines starting were very predictable. Once I started the Topamax and then Zonagran and than Depokate and one more med I can't rememberthe patterns of my migraines have changed, but nothing that was disturbing (my scalp hurts very badly).
So after about 8 months of being on Lexapro and CoenzymeQ10 I had a very odd and extremely distrubing start to a migraine on Thrusday. I was eating breakfast (fresh eggs from the chickens) and I started seeing double. My first thought was I was getting an eye infection and I needed to go rinse out my eye and start the meds again. Well my eyes were not infected and looked great (I had too many of them, but all of them were fine). Covered one eye, nothing was double, covered the other eye, nothing was double. Just got the double vision with both eyes. This lovely event last about 10 minutes. I went outside where it was cooler, closed one eye or the other and did some deep breathing and relaxation. Sometime during this I started to realize I had a migraine coming on. Must have been a start of head pain or something, but it was clear that was happening. Got my meds and some ice, and laid down. I felt pretty good abut about 45 mintues. No other events or migrianes during the rest of the day. Have any of you had a migraine start with double vision? I've had other visual aura's before, but nothing like this. I will be calling my doctor for this and to get an appointment to talke about adding a prevenative in. But I was just wondering. Take care, Cindy |

Cindy,
When pattern change or new symptoms as serious as this occur, they should definitely be reported to your doc, so good thought on calling for an appointment. I've personally not had diplogpia (OK, I couldn't resist using the big word for double vision), but it can happen. ![]() Teri Robert Lead Expert, MyMigraineConnection terimmc@helpforheadaches.com

Cindy,
I'm glad to hear you'll be calling your doctor...today I hope? I rarely get visual auras and they are usually just your run of the mill squiggly lines. One time, I lost vision, like an eclipse, in my right eye. This was right after I started Keppra so my doctor took me off of the Keppra (which wasn't helping and making me moody anyway) and it hasn't happened since. Please let us know what your doctor says. I know she's a good one! Laura Forum Moderator |

No double vision here. I have had some oddball little vision glitches when migraines are coming on, though. Usually it's a flicker I catch out of the corner of my eye, or a bit of shimmering the same way. Sometimes things will suddenly jump just a little bit (enough to just notice). It's always more noticeable when I'm tired.

I had double vision occasionally when my hemiplegic migraines first started, but once I began taking Topamax the double vision went away and hasn't come back since (thankfully). Oh, and if I covered my left eye (the side my hemi weakness was on) the double vision went away. Sure hope your doctor has some answers for you.
