Hey guys,
I already informed you that I am being admitted to the hospital on tuesday after my appointment. I wanted to ask what kinds of meds you have tried for headache treatment or while you were in the hospital/er. I am really just looking for some new ideas to suggest to my doc for this time around. I know its fully his decision, but I also know he will be up for suggestions. Have any ideas to add in the mix? THe last two times I was in the hospital we tried the DHE infusions. What has helped you guys out? I am open to any suggestions as I am hoping for a more successful trip this time around. “Hope is the thing with feathers, that perches in the soul, and sings the tune without words, and never stops at all.” |

Hopefully your doctor will have plenty of good ideas of what to try, but you can never have too much info, so...
Here are some articles about other things that can be tried in a clinic setting! Lidocaine – Effective Treatment for Refractory Migraines in the Clinic Researchers found Lidocaine administered through IV drip was effective at easing Migraines when other treatments had failed. IV Treatment of Refractory Migraines Refractory Migraines — Migraines that are not responding to treatment — can present significant issues for Migraineurs, including status migrainosus. Dr. John Claude Krusz has been working toward more effective treatments for such headaches and Migraines and has found several IV treatments that are extremely successful. Personally. I've found that the list given in the second link rules! I've tried several of the meds on the list, and I know that most places might not be comfortable with all of the options, but some are definitely easily done. I've had success with droperidol (inapsine), ketamine (again, not commonly done,) and a few more on that list. I can't do lidocaine, but I hear that it works well for others. YOu mentioned DHE- which I also didn't particularly enjoy... Have you tried Reglan? Jamie Forum Moderator |

THanks Jamie- I was just looking at those links right before I read your post
I have tried the DHE, magnesuim, keppra, and depracon from that list. I know there has been many others other than that list, too i just don't remember them all. I am not familiar with the lidocain, reglan, or a few others, but I will ask about them! Its good to see that I still have many options left to try. “Hope is the thing with feathers, that perches in the soul, and sings the tune without words, and never stops at all.” |
