I noticed with my last Migraine I had a really angry attitude one day before the Migraine pain. This happens alot in general. Is this typical or normal for the Prodrome phase? I can`t help but wonder what is going on in the brain that would trigger that kind of symptom.

I notice, for me, I get extreemly short and also cranky a couple days to a day before. Unless it's a weather triggered one.
So I can see that happening. Then the guilt/sad depression sets in after. Yep the cycle continues. Hi Khrystaa,
On a few occasions I have become "grumpy" before a Migraine attack, but not on a regular basis for my Migraines. Some typical prodrome symptoms can be irritability, depression and moodiness. It is important to remember that each persons prodrome may be a bit different from the next. Anatomy of a Migraine does a great job of explaining the four phases and symtpoms of a Migraine attack. Does that help any?

Khrystaa - I often get grumpy before a migraine, though not always. If I feel really grumpy and I'm not overtired it's a pretty good indication a migraine is coming. sometimes it helps me to know that - like I realize everything in life is not awful and out to get me, it's just prodrome and I can go take my meds and get through it.

I've been known to get a bit grumpy from time to time when a migraine is thinking about settling in, too. Definitely, this is annoying, and merits a big UGH!

I always get very irritable- everything gets on my nerves- it's definitely a forewarning of a migraine for me. Strangely enough, I also get a craving for sweets, especially chocolate.

For me, I tend to be pretty grumpy during the actual migraine. I'm sure most of us aren't the happiest of people when we are in pain but alot of times I can be overly grumpy. I have to remember that it isn't anyone's fault I'm in pain and have to take a step back and re-evaluate. That's when I use my toolbox to settle myself down. I don't yell or scream (that would be a huge ouch) but I can get pretty snappy. Thankfully, my family knows it is the migraine talking and not my "real" personality.
