I love those judge shows that come on in the afternoon. I can lay down and listen, but not have to watch. Good time waster.

Oh me too, me too! Totally mindless tv, but definitely distracting and sometimes entertaining even. They make me laugh sometimes.
I like Judge Marilyn (people's court) & Judge Judy. hehe

The people's court is hilarious sometimes. I also like judge mathis. I don't think we get judy down here.

Cops may be a little too visual for me in the middle of a migraine. Donno though- I guess I can try it. I still have the beastie from yesterday that turned me a nice shade of blue.

Hot tea
Cat to sit on my pillow and try to crowd out the pain
Ice pack from temple to temple (which is how my migraines usually run; mine are rarely one-sided)

Oh! I thought of another one. I watch this tv show in the mornings on the Animal Planet channel called "Sunrise Earth." It an hour program that shows the sunrise in a nature setting (i.e. a national park). No narration...just as though you are in nature with the birds chirpping ect. and teh sun is rising. Halo It is beautiful and relaxing, until...
the commercials come on and interrupt my peaceful meditation and I hear blaring "Head-on! Apply directly to your forehead!" ARG! Hair Raising

As usual, I am late.
I just saw this post. In addition to my meds of course, my toolbox contains:
1. gentle head rubs from hubby
2. an electric blanket *or a warm hug* --- i get freezing cold during my migraines
3.a hot bath
4. hot tea (green or peppermint can soothe nausea for me and help with the freezing feeling)
5. coffee (helps to keep me warm as well as can sometimes reduce the pain)
6. a dark , perfectly quiet room with me in my husband's arms( feels safe, like the migraine beastie can't kill me if i'm in Pete's arms... weird, I know)
7. classical or meditation music
8. prayer
9. this forum!
10. and when things get really bad, Teri's famous blend of deep motherly love, advice and penguin slaps have been known to set me back on the right track.

Thats whats in my toolbox!

much love to all,
Bim

Good topic!
  • Silence
  • Peppermint candles (as long as DH is home to keep an eye on them in case I fall asleep)
  • Peppermint tea
  • Peppermint essential oil
  • Relaxation and deep breathing
  • My amethyst rosary
  • Sleep
  • If absolutely necessary, injectable rescue meds

I loved reading these posts. I think I'm on the verge of a migraine today and I'm going to try some of these ideas to see if I can stop it in its tracks.

I just got some lavendar shower gel and body lotion today. I'm going to try those now!

Thank you.

I'm really surprised at how many of you like to read, watch TV, listen to music, etc. When I have a migraine, I can't stand sounds or lights. I do best in a dark, quiet room.

And now I'm off to try that lavendar shower gel & body lotion!

I love this post. What a great source for ideas for your tool box. Some of mine includes my Nap Products, the furry blanket and the teddy bear, cups of Chamomile Tea, and watching really bad reality TV like "I Love New York."

I thought I was the only one who watched really bad reality TV! Smiler It's great when I'm migraining because it doesn't require me to follow any sort of a plot.
