Hello,

I have had migraines with aura since I was 13. Luckily they have become less and less frequent as I've aged. Also, when I get the aura, I can take 1 or 2 advil which prevents me from getting the headache. It doesn't however stop the postdrome phase (which can last 1 - 2 days). How do people deal with the postdrome? I'm so out of it...it's hard for me to do anything. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

MJ-First, welcome to the forum family Flower

I don't know any ways on how to rid myself of the postdrome phase completely. But, I have some things that "perk" me up like taking a hot shower, walking in cold, crisp air outside, watching comedy to brighten my mood, reading a favorite book, playing a board game with my kids or playing with my dogs. These are just a few ideas. I hope this helps.

Again, welcome to the forum, I look forward to seeing you around. If you have any questions, just ask away Smiler

Hello and Welcome!

Advil isn't capable of stopping a Migraine the way you've described. Sorry, but it just isn't. If you were having an aura, took Advil, and the Migraine didn't progress to the headache phase, it had nothing to do with the Advil. Maybe it was an acephalgic Migraine, which skips the headache phase.

Sometimes, there's just no way around those postdrome symptoms. It really depends on the person. I have less postdrome when I use a triptan to abort the Migraine.

Welcome again!

The only way out of postdrome for me is through. Pretty much, that means time. I do find it resolves faster if I make sure I'm not overdoing things in general, though.
