Hi, Maggy, welcome to the forum. We're glad you found us.

Most migraineurs have normal MRI's, but some changes in the brain seem fairly common among migraineurs. This article will give you more info:

Is Migraine a Progressive Brain Disease?

Take care, and welcome again.

Hi Maggy,

I had an abnormal MRI as well. It showed diffuse white matter changes (sometimes also called white matter lesions, though I think they are the same thing) and a few more defined lesions in the right lateral ventricle. After my PCP got that report, he sent me to a neurologist to rule out multiple sclerosis. These lesions are common in but not diagnostic for ms. They are also common in a certain number of migraineurs, as I think someone else mentioned in a post. I know my doctors had a long list of tests for me to go through after that MRI, and I have to have another in September (my first one was in March). So contact you may want to contact your doctor to see if he/she wants you to have any further tests.

I'm not new to migraines in general, but I'm new to these severe ones I've been having for the last several months. The folks here at the forum are wonderful. You certainly have come to the right place!

Welcome! Big Grin

Be well,
Melissa
