And here I thought it was all in my head - turns out it's ON my head... Big Grin

Kidding - just wondered if anybody else caught it and if there are some thoughts out there? At least they say to treat EARLY.

I've always had skin and muscle sensitivity postdrome with migraines. The harsher the migraine the worse the sensitivity.

The scalp sensitivity has changed since I changed penvenatives. I now get that as part of my prodrome aura phase. Very strange for me. My scalp almost tingles and becomes painful.

That's pretty much just reprinting a press release. Later today, we'll have an article with far more information. I got a copy of the full study report and had a chance to interview one of the researchers yesterday. I'll post when the article is up.

I get the "hair" pain with the flu or a high fever. It's not particularly severe with a migraine, usually. Looking forward to the article. -- Gretchen in Mississippi

I definitely get the scalp pain when I have a migraine, as well as my body being sore the touch. Interesing. Looking forward the article on this website with more information.

I will tell people that my "hair hurts". I'll explain it to those that don't understand it as: It's the feeling you get when you have your hair in a tight pony tail all day then taking it out.

I too get hair pain, and scalp pain. At times it almost brings me to tears just trying to wash my hair. I have very short hair, which probably helps some.

Like Heather I also get very sensitive skin. My skin just hurts all over. the slightest brush of my arm, legs or ribs(those are the most painful spots, though all over)feels like someone poked at a big bruise or something of the sort. Even though there are no bruises! LOL

Looking forward to Terrys article on this!

YESH my hair hurts!

And I've got a mountain of it, girls.

I'm nearly 5'9". My hair officially is waist long. I can no longer manage it. I blogged today that Locks of Lovemay be about to get another donation from me because I just cannot manage this mountain anymore.

Now, the pain has never diminished when I had short hair, but it will be easier to contend with from a vertigo/disequilibrium standpoint if it's at least only a foot long instead of nearly three feet long.

And the article called migraines "headaches"... Head Banging

Where did my favorite 'skillet' emoticon go?? Or is it there and my poor addled brain just can't identify it? Confused

Prior to my current preventive (verapamil), I had significant issues with allodynia. It was one of my biggest complaints actually because it was a *constant* sensation for a while! I chopped all my hair off to shoulder length because I was so desperate. It helped relieve it a tiny bit because I have very thick, heavy hair. I've kept my hair shorter ever since just out of paranoia...Smiler

I don't have any allodynia associated with migraine, that I know of. But I do have horrible allodynia related to either fibro or just my hyperactive nervous system in general, my neuro thinks. Mine is mostly evident on my sides, around my ribs, on my upper legs, and sometimes my arms. I can lightly scratch an itch, and end up with a deep, searing pain that can literally steal my breath away and will hang around for a good half-minute or so after. At least I know it's benign, so that's good.

Yep! In my family, it goes like this:

Person 1: I don't feel so good. I think I'm getting the flu.

Person 2: Why do you think that?

Person 1: Well, for one thing, my hair hurts.

Person 2: Oh, yeah, definitely the flu.

Thumbs Down

Today my hair is killing me. So this thread definitely caught my eye. I have very fine hair and lots of it. About six weeks ago I had my hair done with the first perm I've had in 10 years. I haven't had great results with it staying in my hair. Frowner

Guess that's to be expected from all the medicine but after ten years of long straight i wanted a change. But one thing I did have done was thinning my hair. And believe it or not for a couple of weeks I had alot less hair pain. It was nice. I've never had had my hair thinned before but it did seem to lessen some head pain by a couple points on the pain scale.

I keep my hair very short because of my hair pain, and even just head pain. I can't tolerate having anything in my hair, so I keep it short so I don't need to worry about that. Having it thinned out also does help a lot, surprisingly. Less weight on my sensitive scalp.
