Hi, I am having another doozie. It has been going on for 2 weeks now. I have had 2 IV infusions done in the neuro clinic(depacon, solu-medrol, zofran, and ativan). The last infusion was done today with absolutely no relief, I was at a 8/10 when I went in and I am still there now. I have asked the neuro 3 times if she would admit me into the hospital, because with my previous neuro he gave me a high dose of solu-medrol and controlled the pain and that is what stopped it. She keeps telling me that she wants me to finish off 2 more infusions on Monday and Wed(same drugs) and see how I feel. My head feels like it is going to explode. I would just like some of your guys opinions on what I should do. My family dr said if I need to, to go in and ask to be admitted and hope that they would. Thanks for your advice,
Paula

Hi Paula, I'm so sorry to hear you're stuck with another bad migraine. I would say, that if you really feel you can't wait until the infusions next week, that it may be time for you to follow your GP's advice and try to get admitted yourself. You could also try calling your neuro and telling her that you can't wait until next week for the infusions and will be going to the hospital yourself, with or without her help.

Good luck to you. Group Hug

Hi Paula,

I'm sorry you're still struggling with this migraine. Group Hug

I can tell you what I've done in the past to break my migraine cycle. I went to the emergency room with a letter from my migraine specialist requesting Magnesium IV therapy which worked well previously in his office. They were more than happy to treat me and thankfully, it brought my migraine down from an 8 to a 2. Maybe this is something you can talk to your doctor about? Here are some links you'll find helpful:

IV Lidocaine

IV Treatment of Refractory Migraines

When to See a Doctor for a Migraine or when to go to the emergency room.

I hope you feel better soon and get that cycle broken. Please keep us posted when you can, k?

Hang in there, we're here for you! Good luck! Group Hug
