I'm glad you had a decent ER experience, e, and I hope that pesky beastie breaks pronto, if it hasn't already.

I hope you will check in and let us know how you are doing. I'm very proud of you for going to the ER, and I'm very glad you were treated so respectfully there.

Thanks for the support everyone! I'm finally awake (sort of) and so far I don't feel the migraine anymore, so I guess it worked. That dilaudid/phenergan combination really knocks you out though! I still feel like I could sleep another 12 hrs.

I was hoping to avoid painkillers and get an abortive, but the ER doc recommended the dilaudid/phenergan combination. He was of the opinion that after 8 days, it's a little late to try to abort a migraine. I thought about bringing up DHE, but I chickened out :/

Anyway, I slept all night and all day, and that seems to have helped. Thanks again for all your support. I was really scared to go to the ER, but it wasn't that bad! I'm not looking forward to going to work tomorrow though. I think a lot of people still see migraine as not real. Oh well, the important thing is that the migraine is gone Smiler

Thanks for the cake! I'm not celebrating just yet though, heh Wink
I don't know if it's postdrome or what, but I am miserable. I still have pain where the migraine was, but I don't think it's the migraine... it doesn't hurt worse when I bend over. I'm wondering if it's just residual pain from the long migraine. My neck and shoulder are still horribly stiff and painful too.

I guess I'll call the neuro in the morning if this still hasn't passed... I wish I could tell if it was broken and this is just nasty postdrome. ugh

Please let us know what the neuro says if you end up having to call.

Fingers Crossed that you'll be back to your pain free self tomorrow morning! That would be fantastic news! In the meantime, try and get some good rest and relaxation.

ARGH! I just can't seem to kick this thing. I guess I'm going to call the neuro on call and see if they can call in a prescription for either DHE or midrin or something. I don't know what else to do Frowner

Thanks Nancy Smiler
I chickened out calling again, hoping maybe i'll get lucky and this thing will break tonight and I won't have to call tomorrow. I don't know why it's so hard for me to just call... I know it's their job, but I know how much I hate being on call on the weekends... ugh. Fingers Crossed hopefully it's gone tomorrow

I've had several jobs, including my current one, where being on call was part of my job. I know how I feel about it: If it's an actual emergency, I never mind! I want to know, and I don't care what time of day or night it is. I DO hate being disturbed about something stupid.

I can tell that you are the last person who would call the on-call doctor about something stupid. A migraine that has lasted 11 days IS an emergency. If your doctor resents being called for actual emergencies, it's time for a new doctor.

E,

I hope you've called by now! Don't forget, I told you I'd get Teri in here to penguin slap you, you don't want that do you! Wink

Don't get me wrong, I'm still so super proud of you for going to the ER - but if you are still having some pain, even if you can't tell for sure what it is, and it's been 24 hours since, you need to call.

I'm going to check in again once Colorado has woken up - I better see that you called young lady! Yes Big Grin

Thanks for the pushes - I know I should have just called. My doc just always makes me feel like I'm a big pain in the butt though, which doesn't make it any easier. Also, the last time I called (on day 8, when I later ended up going to the ER), she suggested that maybe I should try taking some ibuprofen Confused
I'm giving her one more chance - I made an appointment for next week to discuss a plan of action with her for if this happens again, so we'll see how that goes.

On the good news, I finally got my appetite back late last night for the first time in over a week, and I think maybe the migraine seems to have broken, so I guess I got lucky this time (although how many times in the last few days have I thought it broke and it didn't...). I still have a dull ache on that side of my head, but it's probably more from not getting a wink of sleep thanks to these steroids. I'm going to go to softball practice and see how it holds up and call them when I get home if it gets worse.

I can't thank you all enough for all the support you have all thrown my way over these last couple weeks. This has been a really scary experience for me and it has meant so much to me to know that someone out there cares and is behind me, even if I am a stubborn pain in the tookus Wink
