If you're referring to the ACTH stim test, I've done that, and it was very easy to do. They took a baseline blood draw, sent me back upstairs to the doc's office for the ACTH injection, and then after an hour they took a second blood draw to find out the effect of the ACTH. Nothing to it, really.

Hi all,

It's been forever since I've been on the board--life has been so busy! I've seen a lot of improvements, my headache has remained mild--fatigue actually bothers me more than pain most days! (it's so nice to not think about it!)

I'm not sure if I should attribute my sudden improvement with my adrenal treatment (all natural... no hormones or steroids) or the homeopathic remedy I also started using for my headache. (the naturopath seems confident that it's a headache, not a migraine...)

I'm seeing an endocrinologist on the 14th of this next month to have more tests done. I need to have T3/T4 done... and my insurance will balk if my PCP orders them. I was forewarned that the endo would probably want to use a quite different treatment than what I'm doing currently. I am entering the world of natural vs. traditional it appears! My PCP was great, he encouraged me to continue with what's working, and said we could talk over any recommended treatments from the endo.

I was told I would be given a cortisol challenge test... not sure if that's the same thing as what you're referring too... I guess it's supposed to see if I'm capable of creating cortisol or not.

I just looked up "cortisol challenge test", and it sounds just like the test I had. It involves injecting ACTH to see see if it triggers cortisol production. My guess is it's the same animal, called two different names.
