In Nov 2007 I got a 10 day migraine. Prior to this h/a I had no substantial h/a history - just the normal garden variety h/a that would go away with two advil. The pain was right sided and focused around my eye, forehead, and cheek. When that headache broke I was aware of right sided neck and shoulder pain. Since that time I have battled almost daily headaches and neck/shoulder pain. My headaches have continued to be right sided. The h/a can strike and then recede many times during the day. Or it may be present for a week and then take a day off. I'm not sure when I say it's "gone" if it's really gone or just so mild that I am able to ignore it. I also have stabbing pains in and around my eye multiple times a day. Just recently I've started to have pain in the left eye too which has me very concerned. For the last 15 months the h/a and eye pain has always been on the right - no idea why it's switching all the sudden.
I have had a CT scan and MRI of my brain - all normal. An MRI of my neck shows four moderately bulging discs. I've been through PT for the neck and it has had no lasting benefit for my neck pain or headache. Have also tried tons of chiropractic and massge with little benefit. My doctor has currently diagnosed me with chronic migraine but I wonder if my symptoms more closely align with NDPH? Other than the first h/a I don't have much nausea or light sensitivity. I would appreciate any insight you may be able to offer as these headaches have completely taken over my life and I am beginning to feel hopeless about ever getting better. |
