Lord, it has rained here in Dallas on & off for about a month now it seems. The last time it did this, it didn't bother me so much but this time, it is really bothering me!! Hair Raising

I know some have mentioned Diamox and I am going to ask Dr.K when I go on Thurs. for my next appt. but I was just wondering if there is any other good advice out there.

And I know it's the weather, cause the minute it starts raining again, the pain starts again. It's been so up and down here. Foggy, and rainy, cold and hot. The barometric pressure going up and down. And no sunshine!!! Frowner

Got any good suggestions that I can do to help? I'm on 2 medications and I feel ok body wise. Just get laid in the bed when the rain starts up. I did try the sinus rinse as I have history of sinus headaches. It helped one time but not the others.

Weatherman says we are in for a rainy winter here, so I need to be prepared.

I hear you. We've had record cold temperatures and rain and snow mix for the last eight days. My whole collective pile o' goo has suffered for it with aching and some pretty bad fatigue and the like. I think mine is more fibro flaring than anything. I also get an odd fuzzy headache up the back of my head, with mental fuzzing when it gets cold like this.

Two things help some once this sets in. The first is to avoid going in and out of the cold as much as I can. If I can stay in, and I stay acclimated, it's not so bad. The other thing that helps is whatever little magic thing my chiropractor does with my neck and the back of my head. I had instant relief yesterday, and it's much better still today than it has been the last week.

Hi Pam,

Hope Dr. K has a good idea for you. I'm generally miserable with weather changes, but we have had really variable weather for the last month and so far so good. In the past, I was more reliable than the weather channel in predicting weather changes and some of these storms have actually sneaked up on me!

Droolie -

It's hard to believe you are already getting snow!!! I think I'm glad I live in Tennesse Big Grin - although during the summer it's another story.

Droolie,
I heard ya on the cold! I think that is what is bothering me most-the cold, damp, rainy weather. It's such a drastic change from the high heat we have had. Today we have fog and a higher temp, so it's not so bad. I haven't tried the chiro. That was next on my list. And I also get the mental fuzziness you talk about. I just want this to end. Today is day 12 out of 14 that we have had rain. That is so true of Dallas weather. It's always feast or famine. Rain or drought. People who have allergies are really suffering too. I'm grateful for the rain, but enough already!! Thumbs Down

Thanks for your suggestions!

Cyn,
Yeah, I am counting the hours to Dr.K-Have my questions all typed out and ready. Jan called yesterday. She is so nice.

I also need to get out of this house. Maybe go see a good movie. Anything but one more day of this dark and dreary weather inside watching tv or reading. Good to hear from you! So glad to hear you are still doing well.

Well, what has been sticking hasn't been sticking around long, so it hasn't been too bad yet. It did get mighty cold here. We've had several days in a row with record lows, and highs in only the 20's.

THE SUN IS OUT! THE SUN IS OUT!!! Thumbs Up Yes Big Grin

How happy I am!! Even though it is cold, I am NOT complaining as it is NOT raining and the SUN it OUT! It's supposed to be a glorious day!!! And weekend! Big Grin
I was dancing in the kitchen this am when I woke up!!!

Saw Dr.K yesterday and got prescription for Diamox for next time we have a front like we just had. And got new prescription for something he thinks might help the fragrance issue so anxious to try that. Adjusted the Savella so I'm not getting so nauseated cause Savella is really helping my fibromyalgia. My body feels good for the first time in a long time.

So, I feel like I'm on my way. Praying this new med will work!! If I could find something to help with fragrance and smell issue that would really be such blessing as it's a MAJOR trigger for me. And it's keeping me from working.

I hope next time you hear from me, it will be a success story about this medication.

And now I'm going to go play in the SUNSHINE... Flower
pam

I wish everyone a pain free weekend!!!

Ah, rain.

It rained for the first time in a while the other day here in San Bernardino, CA, and I got quite annoyed by all my friends rejoicing and updating their Facebook status to read things like "I'm loving the rain" and "Yay, let's hope it continues!" while I was stuck inside with a miserable migraine! Normally I like rain, but it's a big trigger when it goes from sunny and clear to a storm...I can almost always guarantee a migraine the first day of it, and again when it goes back to sunny. Ick.

Some good news, since the weather seems to have officially cooled and gone from summer to fall, I have felt SOOO much better overall. I still get migraines, but mainly just when there's a weather change or I don't sleep enough. It seems like the dry hot summer temps were the cause of my daily ones, so yay for Fall. Has anyone else noticed that their migraines are worse in the summer?

Dizzygirl,
Yeah, I heard ya on the weather change and I feel your pain. Summer is horrible for me and now the rain here in Dallas has been no fun. I got this medication but since you need to take it right when the front moves in and I listened to weather report; but good ole Texas weather can change in an instant. Hair Raising

And the front moved in a day earlier and I didn't take med so here I am in pain.

If I take it now, I'll waste a whole day in bed, cause it can make me too sleepy, so just going to grin and bear it till I can take it tonight. Head Banging

It's hard to time the weather, especially here in Texas. And like you said, you can have hot one minute and cold the next. The barometric pressure can be all over the place. Thumbs Down

And then there's the happy people about the rain!! Don't get me started about them.

I wish I had some answers but I don't. Try to find a place to live where the temp is more even? Lately, seems like the weather is eratic and unpredictable everywhere. So good luck with that idea.

Til then, hang in there. And I wish you pain free days... Yes

Just wanted to post that I took the Diamox last night-(only took 500mg since didn't know how I would react being first time) and it worked. The rain was coming down something fierce!! We set a record here in DFW for rainfall in one day!

When I went to bed my head felt like a balloon about to burst and after doing the saline sinus rinse and taking the Diamox, the pressure and pain left.
YAY!!!!!! Zzzz'z

Just had to get up and go to bathroom a lot but that is side effect. It's better than a migraine!!

If anyone out there has experience with Diamox, I would love to hear your tips. I know I should start taking it before the front moves in and I will do better next time on keeping track of that. But here in Texas, it's hard, cause the weather can change quickly.

Wishing you all pain free days!!! Yes Yes Thumbs Up

Pam -
So glad the Diamox worked for you!! Thumbs Up

I take one every evening before going to bed and have had NO weather related changes in migraines even with the weather jumping all over the place - rain, storms, hot, cold. . .

I'm a believer!! So glad it's working for you!!!

Cyn,
Oh, you take one every night? How much do you take? Wonder if I should do that? We are supposed to have a rainy winter, so might not be a bad idea. Guess I'll call Dr. K.

I know others take it too so I wonder if they take it every night. And Teri Roberts has posted that she takes 1000mg of it.

I hate having to take all this medicine but guess it can't be avoided.

Good to hear from you. How are you doing?
