On days I'm well enough to read, I can only spend a little time at the computer before triggering a migraine. We've tried every option over the years to lessen the computer monitor triggering a migraine; even the purchase of a larger flat screen monitor didn't help. All types of change in lighting also didn't help.
I'm interested in the Amazon Kindle portable reading device and wonder if anyone here has it and if you feel it would present a problem for someone who already has a migraine trigger problem with all types of computer monitors. Thanks. |

Hi marvel, I don't have the Kindle exactly for the reason you mention. Computer monitors of any kind really aggravate my head. The old CRT monitors are the worst, but even the newer flat panel LCD monitors still bother me. I can't see how a Kindle wouldn't bother my head. It's still a screen. I love the idea of them but I don't think my head would tolerate.
Good luck to you - if you do decide to try it, let us know how it goes. -MJ my blog: http://rhymeswithmigraine.blogspot.com/ "What will you do, if it does not turn out how you expect?" I would go to a borders and see if they have a ebook like the kindle - my borders does. Not sure the electronic paper that these things use would bug you as it doesn't flicker. It uses no electricity except when you "turn a page" The one's at border's are a different brand but use the same screen technology as a kindle.

Thanks, Solta. I called my local Borders and they told me they carry the Sony Reader, but don't have the Kindle for viewing. (I'm sure they will if sales start slowing down!)
I've heard the display is different on the Kindle and is more readable, but that doesn't mean it's tolerable for those of us who find monitors intolerable. I decided to wait until the second edition comes out before I would even considering purchasing it. I would also want to ensure I could return it. |

I find working on my laptop more tolerable than a desk PC, but when I am having a migraine, it's difficult to read any screen for long.
I think for now, I'll just stick to regular books & occasionally books on CD for now. |
