I SCUBA dive. This weekend I went diving both Saturday and Sunday; and had a godawful attack(phosphenes, at least two simultaneous headaches, FULL hallucinations, nausea, fever, photophobia, a few oddball neuroses) Monday night.
Now I'm reasonably certain that my dives had nothing to do with this latest attack. However, has anyone ever heard of, or experienced, the barometric changes involved in diving affecting their headaches? I know that changes caused by the weather do affect people, but not me. So I'm more interested in the extreme changes that can only be experienced by immersion in deep water. |

Hi,
Well I dive. I have had "squeeze" like headaches that start about 20 minutes after I get out of the water. They have lasted maybe 20 minutes. I was on an extended boat dive a few years ago and went as deep as 90 feet. No problems. I did have a couple of migraines on the trip. I was told by a physician who works with divers not to dive w/in 24 hours of taking imitrex. I was in the south pacific so snorkling on those days made me feel like I missed nothing!! I would write DAN and ask them. They might have some information to share back with you. Take care, Cindy |
