I'm pretty sure that Splenda is one of my triggers. It wasn't as clear cut as some others I have identified, but I did notice some correlation between specific attacks and consuming foods and beverages containing Splenda.

Lynne, that's a really good reminder just to always read labels - manufacturers can change their ingredients at any time, without warning, so foods that were once "safe" may become unsafe at any time.

MJ -

Isn't that annoying that it isn't sufficient to just read the label once and choose a brand? My husband is sensitive to MSG, and I find that I have to keep checking labels to make sure nobody has changed their formula. I finally got our butcher to order MSG free bratwurst! I had bugged them for two months before they were able to find a manufacturer ...

Lynne, I feel you on the MSG! It's one of my stackable triggers, and with my migraines so out of control right now I try really hard to avoid it all together. DBF cooks almost everything from scratch, mostly because of the MSG. We were very happy to find some chicken broth that has no MSG and low sodium - at least that we don't have to make from scratch!

Spenda gives me awful migraines! I just learned about this aspartame chemical. I have been having such bad migraines every day for awhile now, and every day I drink diet caffeine free pepsi, which has this aspartame in it. Today is day 1 of no more of this artificial sweetener. I am hoping it will mean migraines much less often!

I'm same as DragonDrool; Aspartame will knock me off my feet -- mirgraines and blemishes! As if it's not bad enough to not feel well.... I get to look bad as well!

I do very well with Splenda; no headaches thus far and I do consume a LOT of it.

I also agree with NutCracker and Mom in that good, balanced nutrition is probably a great way to go.

I've been seeing and reading a lot about "detox"ing. Nothing too radical -- eliminating sugar and flour from your diet, etc. A bit extreme for me, but I'm willing to try anything to escape the pain of a migraine.

One doc told me to 1. create a headache diary; recording everything I eat and all activities, then 2. see if there are any patterns. If no patterns, than 3. eliminate ALL traditional migraine triggers at one time and then add one back at a time and see if any migraines start. Then I'd know that was/were the culprit/s.

But now I'm willing to consider the possibility of doing a "detox" of sugar and the other things the holistic folks talk about.

Hi, Standup, welcome to the forum. We're glad you found us. I saw in your post in the Archive folder that a Frova search brought you to us. However you got here, welcome. You will find several forum members that swear by "Frova power!"

Here's a link to some info about migraine diaries, and some diary forms to choose from and print.
