I've been racking my brain (not too hard of course - don't want to tempt the beastie) about the fluorescent lighting issue. It's a trigger for me, which is to say, it aggravates my constant migraine pain and also makes my dizziness and nausea much worse. It's also caused some sudden upset stomach issues while shopping (when combined with other sensory overload).

Nike came out with a new line of contact lenses a few years ago, marketed for athletes, meant to be an alternative to sunglasses. I saw a blurb a few months ago about the amber-tinted ones being used for migraineurs with light sensitivity. I wasn't convinced about these though, since amber sunglasses usually hurt my eyes more.

I discovered this week that Nike has an alternative tinting, grey-green, meant for intense sunlight conditions. (The amber ones are intended to increase contrast - not good for my migraine eyes.) Ah ha, I said. That might be a good solution - why not see about getting some tinted contact lenses to wear places like work? That way, I not only stop getting the weird looks and assumptions from coworkers, but I also get *better* protection since the fluorescent lights can't get in around the edges of the contacts.

So, I plan to call my eye doctor (who conveniently carries these contacts) and see about scheduling an appointment with him to talk about this. The way my vision insurance works I should have this at least partially covered, depending on the cost (I get a lump sum per year, used toward what I want).

Unfortunately, it looks like Nike has discontinued these lenses. Mad I still plan to talk to my eye doc about this. They're still being sold online, at least while supplies last.

Thought I would share this idea with you guys, since I know fluorescent lighting is a problem for a lot of us. And I'll let you know how it turns out.

Good luck - would these be the non-disposables since they are discontinued? I'd hate to see you run out if they work.

Deb, that is one of the questions I will be asking my eye doc. Hopefully I have some options. Fingers Crossed It would be incredibly frustrating to find something that works only to run out and not be able to buy any more.

I have an appointment with my eye doc next Wednesday afternoon, so I'll let you guys know what happens! They still carry them so that's a good sign!

MJ--

You may have found me a way to not have the "horse show" migraine. Inevitably, at least the warm-up and a ring are not covered--which, along with show nerves, gives me a good one. I have to save up Zomig for every horse show! You know, when you're wearing the fancy dressage clothes, you're not allowed to have a fashionable pair of sunglasses on in the show ring.

Looking forward to your report!
