I have the hardest time craving chocolates & Cheese as i'm sure that most people do, and its hard because chocoalte & Cheese causes migraines. And I know they are not the healthiest. I've tried the healthest cheeses too and they too give me migraines as well.
So i'm wondering what other people have for Snack's during the day, that don't trigger their migraines? |

It may not help you, since everyone's food triggers are so diverse, but I often snack on popcorn. Another favorite is carrots dipped in peanut butter. I also like beef jerky, though I know some people trigger off the nitrates or other preservatives in cured meats.
Really, the only true way to find snacks that you like and that don't trigger you is to do trial and error. Dragondrool Forum Moderator ~~8=:>>>> |

I can no longer look at microwave popcorn without laughing...
My office is near the (still standing) microwave- which means I get to smell all of the "yummy" foods, and those which really are tasty. Well- there was one day that the fire alarms went off in our office building. We thought it was a drill- all poked our heads out of the offices, and went back to work. About 5 minutes later, there was smoke all in the suite... We all looked at each other- grabbed stuff- I grabbed my laptop and ran out- feeling my way along the corridor... The other microwave had essentially lost the ability to use the "popcorn" feature- and had set the bag on smoke/fire. We all waited until the firemen showed up- about 20 min. in the parking lot... spending time talking- great time for a staff meeting... I don't think we've all ever been in one spot that long... Then we found out what had caused the fire/smoke. And the person who had done it was also outed. But the building didn't clear of the smell, and the only thing to do was to go home... Now, everytime someone's microwaving popcorn, we all make jokes about burning smells, afternoons off, calling the fire dept, etc... Anyhow- I just dragged that way Off topic. I like the carrot idea- I'm looking for more snacks that keep me out of the vending machine. Thanks for the healthy snack suggestion, Droolie! Jamie

I prefer home-popped to microwave popcorn any day. Preferably in my Whirley Pop popper.
As for the carrots and peanut butter, I like a a whole bunch better than celery and peanut butter. I was reading a book as a kid where the protagonist munched on carrots and peanut butter, and you know how curious I am. I had to try it. I've been hooked ever since. I love popcorn as well! I just have to keep reminding my self not to eat so much of it. I've never tried the carrots dipped in peanut butter. I"ll need to try a soy peanut butter one because i'm allergic to the regular one that gives me migraines. But If i can get the soy peanut butter that sounds so good and Oh that reminds me Cellery dipped in Soy or peanut butter would be good as well.
And Yes, JERKY!! I love Jerky. In fact I just put that on the grocery list yummy but I have to look for one that has low cholester in it. Granola bars sound good too! I'll have to keep that in mind and see if I can find one that doesn't have a lot of sugar or see if they have one at my local health food store. Thank you so much for all these suggestion's They have helped a great deal! |
