Oh dear Laura!! Grilled Watermelon??? Big Grin Oh my you had me rolling!

Anyway, I always cook more from scratch than from box, but since my son and I have been on MSG free diet, I am cooking more than ever. Trying to find condiments that are msg free are my biggest struggle. To replace things like Mayo,mustard, Soy sauce, Salad dressings,(I have found a few of these but OUCH the price!!) and sour cream. My son is allergic to many other foods, so this makes it even more challenging.

I have SO many cookbooks! But I rarely use a recipe the same, I always change it to my familys taste! I have too many family favorites to list! I make my own tortillas, and my own spaghetti sauce(or alfredo for my tomato allergy kid),homemade applesauce, Beerocks, Polt, my own bread and rolls, homemade pizza, brown rice, black beans, pinto beans into refried beans... OH jeez here we go! Deb got me started! She got me drooling too ;

hey gang -

just catching up here. I'm a funny kind of on and off again cook. My mom's a good cook, my sister's a committed foodie and gourmet cook, my mother-in-law (who i knew well growing up and hung out in her kitchen) was a fabulous cook, and Danny's pretty much a gourmet cook too. I'm a lazy cook. I love cooking on the weekend, hate doing it at the end of a long working day. Since Danny's been working from home (8 years now), he's done most of the cooking. I've gotten spoiled and also quite rusty! Soon he'll be back to a regular job out of the house and I'll be taking up the reins again! I'm happy for any recipes and tips you all want to share.

I love Eating Well magazine which has lots of easy, healthy, from scratch recipes. We try to eat organic as much as we can, and eat local, tho that does get awfully expensive. We also deal with - Rachel's a vegetarian, Adam a very picky eater-meat eater, and I can't tolerate cow's milk dairy much. So short-order meals are common. Danny has really gotten in the habit of cooking three different things, tho we often don't eat until 8! I am going to have to simplify it, somehow!

I'm reading "The Omnivore's Dilemma" right now, all about the food industry, what we eat, the benefits of eating locally. Very interesting. I also found a great little series of books - "The Food Lovers' Guides" - I have the Food Lovers' Guide to NJ - they have them for about a dozen states, cities and regions, all about local produce, local specialties, restaurants, etc. That's how we found the gourmet organic popcorn, buffalo farm (buffalo steaks, yum) and the farm with the 100's of varieties of chili-peppers, all quite nearby. Anyway, take a look if they have one for your region.

This is making me so hungry, I'll have to go scare up some brunch!

TA-DA! Grilled watermelon...

Who'da thunk it? I wouldn't have thought it would hold up to the grill, either. But it does sound interesting.

It wasn't hard to find. I just googled "grilled watermelon" and randomly clicked one of the result links.

If I'd have known it was so easy to get you laughing...

It doesn't take much to make me laugh, but that also touched a special place in my heart too! Bonus for laughing so hard.
