Hey all,

Putting out an APB for magnesium and potassium-rich recipes.

Those of us on Topamax need to be aware of potassium and magnesium has been good for many of us.

There are many individual foods that fit the bill. Anybody got good recipes for dishes high in these nutrients?

Edit: oh, and sorta lower in sodium if possible. Angel

I don't have any specific recipes, per se, but as I recall Elaine Magee's Tell Me What to Eat If I Have Headaches and Migraines has some such recipes. I will say that this may be one of those "buffet" books where you take some info and leave some. I borrowed a copy from my local library - you can find the amazon.com link HERE.

Not sure if this helps, but it's a start?

I know sweet potatoes are very high in potassium. (and I love them) I eat them by themselves, not in a "dish" but I am sure you can search for recipes. I chug low Na V8 juice when my Topa-tingles get really bad. Trader Joe's has a great one too.

As far as Magnesium I was told Lemonade is a great source. Not sure that's what you were looking for, but that's what I got.

Sea salt may help, too.

I take a calcium-magnesium-zinc supplement. And, eating seafoodmight work. At least, that's what I say. Big Wink Then, there are bananas and other fruits for the potassium.

Remember to be careful when reducing your sodium intake, as your nerves depend on a sodium-potassium pumping system to function properly.
