My husband and I are notoriously lazy when it comes to cooking. Therefore, we eat out a lot...You can imagine the pounds that can pack on, and the money you lose, too.

This week, however, we've managed to eat at home every night! I'm proud of my husband; he's taken up cooking on the grill! And actually seems to like conquering foods there, lol.

Also have been getting more exercise into my days, and been trying to squeeze it in even if it isn't at my usual time. No more excuses. Must do it to keep my heart healthy. I don't want to be a statistic. My husband is even walking with me some evenings!

I joined a "weight loss" team at work so we are all on one another about food and tips so we're all bolstering one another.

I've felt better despite a few hiccups and some depression; I was actually able to enjoy sitting outside almost everyday this week to eat with my husband and not migraine afterwards. I've also taken to walking outside when it gets cooler. I haven't had this much outdoor time for about 4 years now. So it feels great!

We used to hike trails all the time when we were younger; hopefully I will be back on track for those kinds of activities soon.

Just wanted to share some small successes. I hope everyone is doing well too. Smiler

I do feel so much better, getting it out and thinking it through helps so much. I am glad to have a place to come and do that, and I appreciate all of you guys so much.

Still considering counseling, though. I don't think I'm out of it yet. Even though I feel better, I am still apprehensive...Because I am never sure of my feelings anymore due to the migraines. And that, I think, is awful to be so unsure.

Good for you, Leeloo! Smiler

I love grilled food, too. One night a couple winters ago I wanted a grilled steak so badly that I shoveled off part of the patio so I could get the grill out and fire it up. It was worth it.

Hi Leeloo, I'm glad you're feeling better Smiler I think counseling is a good idea in any event, though. It really can help to sort things out, get a reality check. My therapy has kept me sane through the worst of the pain and all the different meds and side effects.

Hope things stay on the upswing for you!

Do you guys ever use indoor grills, e.g., George Foreman? I use mine to cook fish all the time. I hate to cook, and that's pretty much the extent of it for me. I live in Philly, and we have some really gross food here, but I can still get healthy take out - grilled salmon spinach salad & hummus are 2 of my favorite pick-up meals at a place near me. Also, places like Trader Joe's and Whole Foods have healthy prepared foods - soups and sandwiches that will last in the fridge for a few days to a week. Instant non-flavored oatmeal is easy, and whole-grain cereals like Kashi or Ezekiel 4:9 can be mixed up with raw nuts or raisins for an on-the-go snack.

I live on this kind of stuff + fresh fruit/veggies....I doubt I spend more on food than I would if I cooked all the time, although I'll admit that my priority is healthy as opposed to cheap.
