I was recently on Weight Watchers for about 6-9 weeks. It worked great, as it always does. Every time I say I'm going to just stay on it, but lets face facts, WW is not real life and sometimes the point counting gets really annoying.

So, I slipped and went off the diet wagon for about 2 weeks. I really have not been making good food decisions, although they have been much worse. I'm not pigging out on chips or anything, but I'm also not bringing my lunch to work like I should and monitering my food.

Today was the first day in a long time that I brought my lunch (I always bring breakfast so that's at least one good thing). Wonderful, right? Yeah, then they tell me they are going to my favorite sandwich shop in the area. DARN!!!! So I hem and haw back and forth with myself saying "no, just eat your PB&J!!!!" "BE GOOD!!!"

Well, I bet you can't guess which choice won. I feel like I have no self control right now. I had a perfectly good lunch with me, but I just could not resist the temptation! I am mad at myself now. Yet, I know I will be totally enjoying an italian sub in a few minutes! LOL

I have gained back about 2 lbs or so from my "derailing". I just find it so hard to get back "on the wagon". I know once I start, I'll be fine for a while again. I just want to lose the additional 5 (well, now 7) pounds. I'm sure that italian subs are not going to help my cause.

Eileen,

I've never tried Weight Watchers or anything like that but I thought I'd share a tid bit with you that I learned about my BIL while I was up in NY.

Billy has an awesome body. I mean a body builder type build. He works out almost everyday, he drinks protein shakes and eats right. Frankly, I was surprised how much his diet changed since the last time I saw him. He even quit drinking, which was a huge change LOL

Well, one day, while we were out at the beach, he cracked open a beer and reached for a bag of chips. When I asked him about it, he said he allows himself to cheat on his diet on Saturday's. He let's himself drink a beer or two, eat some junk food and then come Sunday, he's back to his strict diet. He said it helps him stick to his diet when he knows he can slip and cheat on it once a week.

So, don't be so hard on yourself! You've done great job already and you'll only do better. No one can be perfect all the time, it would drive you bananas! You have to cut yourself some slack.

Good luck!

I second that, cut yourself some slack! Every one slips off of the wagon a little. Its sometimes just to much to keep things running "perfectly" all the time. Two pounds is nothing! You can loose that the next time you pee Razzer! Lol Good luck getting back to it, you will do fine. Wink

I know what you mean though. I have not wanted to put the effort into food shopping, as I haven't felt the greatest. So I have been eating out the past couple days Head Banging. I know better, lol. Today, whether I feel "up" to it or not. I am hitting the grocery store. No more fast food for me for a while!

Eileen, DH and I "did" WW for about 2-3 months a few years ago. Even with "cheating" once or twice a week, I was able to lose about 20 lbs.
Then, I had the Mother of all Migraines hit (at Christmas), and I ate what I could when I could.

So, take a break when you need to. Even your WW counselors will tell you that. It's the overall eating habits that you are changing, not the minutia. Once your overall habits are solidly changed, you'll be surprised at how the minutia have changed without you having noticed.

(Remind me to NOT bake a double batch of brownies unless it's for an event! They keep calling me from across the kitchen!)

Thanks guys!

I agree with all of you. When I did WW in the past, I did it M-F and had what I wanted (within reason) on the weekends.

Rebecca - you are so right! I feel my eating habits have changed, but sometimes I feel like I slip too far down the slope (like now!) and it seems hard to get back on track!

The irony in this situation is DH tells me "we have to get rid of the jelly beans in the house." His mom bought him a 3lb thing of Jelly Belly's for him for his birthday. I have no problem with them - I'll eat like 10 beans and be good. He doesn't touch them (that I know of) unless I have them out. It has NOTHING to do with the jelly beans - how does the jelly beans MAKE you eat popcorn with butter on it? He was telling me when I brought up the problem with getting back on track that it was the jelly bellys - uh no! It's the temptation at work!

It's so funny though because he does the same thing. He'll make a bag of popcorn and put real butter on it. I only eat it the way it is - low fat or whatever. Then again, he is also running three miles a day so he can eat more than my lazy butt can. Razzer

I did bring a sandwich again today - I am determined to get back on track!!!!!!! I know my sandwich is only 5 points - not like 22 points that is what the italian sub must be - if not more!

I love that I have point values etched in my memory FOREVER! LOL

Chiming in late, but I've allowed myself to enjoy special occasions.

Birthdays, holidays, vacation (although I was still able to lose a pound after a month of seemingly unending vacations), etc.

I'd go crazy if I denied myself those treats and would quit pretty quickly.

I'm facing another nine days of prednisone, though - that's going to be interesting.
