I normally wait until I'm hungry to get lunch. Normally, and up until the world of migraineville, it was ok. My antidepressants make me borderline hypoglycemic, so I tend to snack a lot. sometimes on not very good- for me things, but,... um- that's not the total point here.

If I don't eat a "lunch" around 12-1pm, I've found that I'm MUCH more likely to develop a migraine later in the day. But if I've just had a snack, I'm not hungry. SO I don't eat... and all of a sudden, it's 2pm, and I'm hungry- and potentially either starting to get an aura, or "get out of jail free" by escaping migraineville totally.

I guess that's it. I just wanted to write this so that I'd have something to look back on, and try and stick with.

I'm happy to report that I have my lunch next to me, and am eating it right now as i type. (Well- drinking it to be exact... I'm still not completely back on solid foods yet.)

There. I have said it. Now... to actually DO it. Eeek!

Your post is right on time!!!!! Thumbs Up

Recently, I realized that if I don't eat 3 square meals a day around the same time everyday I get a migraine. I get them even if I snack inbetween.

Like you, I usually wait until I get hungry before I think about eating.

So starting this week I have made a great effort to eat around the same time each & everyday.
Already had 2 migraines this week. Mad I guess they don't like my newer eatting habits. Smiler

Embarrassed Not as much as I should... I guess i was just raised in the "tasty drink"generation... everything has to taste good... Most times I take a splash of Gatorade and put it in a bottle- and mix it with water. That way I get some taste... and the water too... It's better than soda, anyway...

I make my own ice tea & lemon aid every week. That's enough water for me.

I'm not one to walk around w/a bottle of water all day especially outdoors. Otherwise, I would need to Crazy Glue the toilet seat between my legs so I wouldn't keep running to the bathroom every second. Razzer

It is now 11:56am and I am headed out the door to get lunch. I am not hungry, but won't break my new resolution on the first day, so off I go

Onion free food, here I come!

-J

on edit: came back, sat down at my desk and WHAM -aura activity. I kinda expected it- had a horrible prodrome this morning- crying, snappy, moody- not at all myself... and very very depressed. (again- where did that come from?!) Now I know...

Braindrane,
I know what you mean by the auraphrase, it is so hard and tempting to now have any of the foods that you crave. I am right up their with you in that area. I try to ignore it somedays but the temptation is so strong somedays its hard to fight it. But then I just think Migraine, I don't want to get a migraine. And the urge most likely goes away.

No gold star for me today... Just started eating Frowner

But, since my neck isn't pitching a fit, I may be able to get away with this one day.

Maybe I'll be good and drink my water now. I have to say- It's gettting me some more exercise- I have to get up from my desk to head to the bathroom more nowadays...

Well... the way I'm going tonight, it looks like it may have to be silver plated generic metal...

Um... I'm too tired to cook, and I'm eating a bowl of sugar cereal for dinner.

Yes, I know. Bad Jamie.

But today was the first day that I had to write something professionally since the 2nd accident... and I was able to. I had been let off the hook on something last month due to post concussive brain mush... but I was able to do it today. Actually, I wrote a whole report, and the beginning of another "results" section... so- I feel really good about that.

And i don't have head pain. so, it's all good!

I'll take my silver plated star and hang it proudly up there next to any of the gold ones i'm gonna get eventually!

I SO understand about needing to eat on a regular schedule to avoid migraines. DH is a Type 2 Diabetic, so he needs to eat regularly, too.
BUT, the Topamax has not only cut my appetite, it seems to also have cut my capacity & increased my digestion time, so I eat about half as much as I used to, and don't get hungry for 5-6 hours (instead of 3-4), them, BAM! I'm ravenous!
And, the Chantix has the other end all messed up, so I'm a real mess!
And, school's out, so my schedule's messed up - I just served supper about 20 min ago. DH seemed to be OK with that.

I did it! Went to get lunch at 12:20, finished by 12:45. Yummy yummmy lunch.... THE Ultimate in comfort food....

I had homemade (restaurant-made) mac and cheese with a hearty crust with bacon.
On another note- there was a new person in the place where I get lunch. I asked if the bacon had been cooked with or near onions. She said "no," automatically. One of the managers looked up- I mean, I don't think the onions thing is a common question- she had to know who it was. When she saw me, she smiled and said to the other employee, "With her- you go ask the chef She gets very very sick- and she's a regular here... go ask."

Then she said "hi" to me, and asked me how I was doing. I thanked her, and she shook her head, saying something like "If they want to be that lazy, they won't be working here."

After checking, it turned out that there really weren't onions in it...

SO, yum.

Gold star! Plus 32 oz of H20 and no caffeine...

Wait- I need caffeine at some point...or my head will go off like a jack o' lantern with a caffeine withdrawal headache!
