With the help of a Chantix prescription from my sister, the doctor, I've quit smoking!
Chantix works by blocking the nicotine receptors in the brain, so I've had no cravings. I have missed "manipulating" cigarettes, but when I've smoked them, they do nothing for me - no taste, no "high", no nothing. My health insurance picked up most of the $119 cost each of the 2 months I've been on it so far. Even if insurance hadn't paid a dime, $300 or so (they reccommend staying on it 3-6 months) is worth it for my health. I don't wheeze anymore, my asthma is under control, & I just feel better. No change in migraine frequency or severity, though. Topamax is still keeping them down. End of school year stressors played the very devil - last week was BAD. |

Sweet! droolie's proud of you!
My dad's doing the Chantix thing right now, too. Other than some issues with nausea, he seems to be doing pretty well with it. Our insurance won't cover it, though. I'm proud of him, because I never thought he'd quit. Not being around the second hand smoke seems to be helping my brainbucket, too, and that's priceless. I hope it keeps going well for you!
