This is my regimen for getting healthy! I am always fatigued, and I like food. A LOT. I eat a lot out of anxiety, mostly, and have been diagnosed with social anxiety disorder. I don't take any meds for it, though, Paxil was bad for me.

1. NO SODA. None. When I read that soda alone was responsible for packing on an extra 20 lbs a year for some people, I dropped it cold turkey. Now, I can't stand the stuff. I haven't had a soda since August of last year. I don't drink calorie-laden drinks, except maybe a Starbuck's here and there.

2. 30 minutes of cardio a day. I'm not interested in losing weight as much as I am interested in working my heart out at this point. If I lose weight, great, that's a side benefit. I walk long enough and with enough exertion to get things pumping and break out a sweat. I'm hoping this will also help the Toprol do its job better and maybe help reduce migraine attacks.

3. 1500 calories intake a day. Yeah, I do really need to lose weight, but for me, this is also about learning to eat in moderation and making better choices. Anxiety makes me eat, sometimes, too quickly and I have a habit of cleaning my plate AND getting dessert. I was eating around 2300 calories a day, and a lot of that was from soda intake. I've found that doing cardio seems to reduce my that hungry feeling I have all the time, too. This is the part I have the hardest time with...I don't cook at home due to time restraints so most of my meals come from restaurants and portion sizes are so HUGE nowadays. My husband and I split dessert most of the time and I try to remind myself that dinner portions on just one meal out might be for 2 or more people!

It's very hard to keep oneself accountable. One slip, especially with the food intake means the rest of the week is lost, because I fail myself by justifying any extra or "special" food intake...As if I earned it because I might have had a "bad" day or gotten a good grade. Getting out of this mindset may take more effort than any of the other parts. I've succeeded with steps 1 and 2 (2 is shaky some weeks due to time too but I'm getting better)...but it is 3 that has always needed work.

If anyone has any suggestions or tips I'd love to hear them!

Sounds good Leeloo. My understanding is that caffeine can be evil for migraineurs, so good job on staying away from soda, coffee, etc.

I love Starbucks too. I have decaf mochas when I indulge. Yummy. But I'm aware of the caffeine in the chocolate, so it goes on my caffeine tally for the day.

Good for you! Keep up the great work! I don't have soda anymore either and have noticed a difference already!
