Hello Everyone!
I am a 57 year old female who has suffered with migraines for 37 years. I had hoped that menopause would stop the attacks, but all it did was change my triggers. So now I'm looking for help from my fellow sufferers. I have recently started taking magnesium daily for prevention, but it is too soon to tell. I also read about riboflavin, ( spelling may not be correct) and may try that. Will be reading with interest all that is written here. I am very glad I found this site! |

Hello and welcome to our forum family, mqp! Our goal is to provide everyone with the information and support that we all need to manage our Migraines and/or headaches. To that end, we consider this a “safe harbor,” where nobody tries to sell us anything, and we all use “family-friendly” language so parents are comfortable letting their children read the forum with them.
Please take a few minutes to review our policies and guidelines along with the other information in the START HERE folder. For information about Migraines, a good article to begin with is Learning About Migraines - Where to Start I've used both riboflavin and magnesium as preventatives. The riboflavin eventually fizzled on me some, but the magnesium is one thing that is still working pretty well for me, eight or nine years later. Just be sure that before you start adding riboflavin or any other OTC supplement you make sure your doctor knows and is on board. Even supplements can have side effects and contraindications for other meds you might be taking or conditions you might have. Settle in and get comfy! There is so very much cool info easily accessible by the links in the colored boxes to the left of the posting window. There's also a handy search box at the top of the screen above the posting window which will pull up info not only from the forum, but also from our shareposts and question and answer features. If you still look for something you're not finding, we'll do our best to help just for the asking. Dragondrool Forum Moderator ~~8=:>>>> |

Hi there,
I'll add my welcome along with droolie's!!! So glad you found us, but sorry you have to be here. You are with good company, people who know exactly what you are talking about. Since you mentioned you Migraine triggers have changed, have you kept a Migraine diary recently? It is a easy way to see what is and isn't triggering an attack for you. You can use our free Migraine diary on our Migraine diary page HERE. If your doctor isn’t able to help you, it may well be time to consult a Migraine and headache specialist. It’s important to note that neurologists aren’t necessarily Migraine and headache specialists. Take a look at the article Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special? If you need help finding a Migraine specialist, check our listing of Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists. Migraineurs may either see a reduction in Migraine frequency, increase or no change at all after menopause. It really depends on the woman. Take a look at this article for more information: Migraine Disease, Menstrual Migraines, and Hysterectomy I don't want to give you too much, so sit back and enjoy. When you have questions fire away! |

Hi mpq and welcome to the forum family, it's great to have you here!
I'm going through the same thing with my triggers right now. They seem to be changing and while I've been able to figure out most of them, there's still something I'm missing. I've started to keep my Migraine Diary very detailed the last few weeks. I use one from the link that Nancy gave me. I keep it on my computer for easy editing. Here's some information on triggers you can take a look at too: • Common Migraine Triggers • Managing Migraine – Migraine Trigger Foods Welcome again! Let us know if you have any questions and we'll do our best to help. Laura Forum Moderator |
