I've been battling migraines since I was in my early twenties. My migraines don't hit softly. They are like being hit with a baseball bat. Sudden and strong. And to top it off, my 8 year old gets migraines also.
Looking forward to getting some advice from the boards. |

Hello and welcome to our forum family, Raspberry Splash! Our goal is to provide everyone with the information and support that we all need to manage our Migraines and/or headaches. To that end, we consider this a “safe harbor,” where nobody tries to sell us anything, and we all use “family-friendly” language so parents are comfortable letting their children read the forum with them.
Please take a few minutes to review our policies and guidelines along with the other information in the START HERE folder. For information about Migraines, a good article to begin with is Learning About Migraines - Where to Start We've got tons and tons of information on this site, not only on the forum boards, but also in shareposts and our questions and answers features. You can access most of this by using the topic links in the colored boxes to the left of the posting window. The search tool at the very top of the page, over the posting window, is a very good friend, too. If there's anything you are looking for that you just can't seem to find, but you're pretty sure we might have, just ask away, and we'll try and help you out. Welcome to the forum family! Hi Raspberry Splash and welcome to the forum family. It's great to have you and your daughter here! You'll find we're a friendly bunch of folks and this is a great site for information and support.
Most of my Migraines hit the same way, although I usually wake up with mine. What type of Migraines do you and your daughter have? • The Type of Migraine Does Matter • Types of Migraines and Headache Have you been able to identify any of your Migraine triggers? Mine are poor sleep, not eating, changes in the weather, some strong smells and I've just discovered cleaning supplies too. Using a Migraine Diary can help you identify those triggers: • Common Migraine Triggers Like Droolie said, if you have any questions, just ask and we will do our best to help. Also, you should swing by the Children and Migraines folder, you'll learn a lot there too. Welcome again! Laura Forum Moderator |

Hello!
Welcome to the forum family! I am sorry to hear that you and your child are suffering with Migraine. Migraine is a genetic neurological disease. One parent having Migraine disease gives a child a 50% chance of inheriting it. If both parents have it, there's a 75% chance. I am glad that you have found us! I see Laura and Droolie already gave you some information. If you have any questions about the links provided, or anything else, please feel free to ask! Welcome again! Hi there fellow Cheesehead & welcome to our forum.
I see that you're from Wisconsin. We have a wonderful migraine specialist here in our state. She has offices in both Franklin and Racine. You can find her on the doctor's list (Dr. Purath). Going to a specialist, like her, will truly help you. Wishing you a pain-free day, Tonya |

Hi Raspberry Splash,
I'm another Wisconsinite stopping by to say, "hi." Tonya is right about Dr. Purath. She's terrific and has helped me a great deal. If you don't have a migraine specialist already and are anywhere near the Milwaukee area, you should check her out. Here's wishing you a migraine free weekend. --Jaclyn |
