Hi.

I've suffered from migraines since I can remember. But have recently been put on Topamax. I've been on that about a month now and it's been helping me out.

But I wanted a place to share ups and downs and googled and found you guys.

I'm 34 and have one child and one busy life. My dd is 6 yrs old.

Just wanted to say hi and now I'm off to read some threads and jump right in.

Thanks!

Hi Smiley and from one Virginian to another, welcome to the forum family Flower

I'm so happy you found us, you've come to the right place for accurate information, support and laughs.

Let me help get you started with a few links:

Learning about Migraines-Where to Start

Topamax Profile

Do you see a Migraine specialist? I began seeing one in January and I'm already beginning to see improvements with how long the migraines last and the severity of them.

I also keep a migraine diary to help track my triggers, how well my medications are working and any patterns to my migraines. I copied mine into Excel and love it!

Once again, a warm welcome and I look forward to seeing you around the forum. If you have any questions, just ask Smiler

Welcome aboard!

With a 6 y/o DD, you do have a busy life! I'm SO glad the Topamax is helping.

I've been looking for a new preventive for several years and started seeing a specialist in November. I'm seeing real progress.

Looking forward to seeing you around!

Adding my welcome to the pile! Virginia is close to my heart, as I went to college there (Virginia Tech) and only moved away about 2 years ago.

Glad that you found us - let us know how we can help you. Flower

Hello! I'm from VA too. And I'm 34 and have 3 daughters (8, 5 and 2 1/2 years). I've had migraines since I was a child. I get migraines with aura. I just joined a few weeks ago and I'm beginning my search for a good migraine doctor.

Glad you found the forum. I have already gotten some great information from these wonderful folks!

Hi Ursula,
I haven't been around much lately, and thus missed saying hi to you! So, a big "Hi" from North Carolina!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

No, I don't see a migraine specialist. I was lucky enough just to get a referral to the neurologist. And he's an idiot.

Great to meet everyone!

Good morning Smiley,

I'm so sorry you don't like your neuro. Maybe it's time to consider finding a new one who can help you control your migraines better?

Here's a quiz you'll find helpful. I'm curious to see how your doctor fares:

Is Your Doctor Right for You?

Good luck and let us know how it goes, k?
