Greetings all,
I'm looking for something new, new ideas or folks that have had success with migraine treatment. I've had migraines for over 20yrs and military Doc's bless them have not have helped. I've seen more MRI and CT machines than I would care too. I've not had much success with daily treatment drugs and also barometric pressure sensitive. Willing to try just about anything at this point. Thanks, Troy |

Hi Troy and welcome to the forum family! I'm so glad you found us. You've come to the right place for information and support
There are over 100 medications that can be used for Migraine prevention so don't give up hope of finding something that will work for you! One of my triggers is also the barometric pressure, up or down can do it. This was brought up in an Ask The Clinician question and you can take a look at it here: Barometric Pressure Do you keep a migraine diary? It's a great tool for you and your doctor to track triggers, any patterns in your migraine and the effectiveness of your medications. Again, welcome and if you have any questions, ask away! Welcome Troy--
Glad you found us. My DH is retired from the Air Force after 26 years (20 active, 6 in the reserves) so I'm very familiar with military doctors. My headaches weren't diagnosed as migraines until about 18 years in the AF, but that was about the time they began to actually realize that migraines were more than just a pain in the head. I'm also extremely weather sensitive. The information you'll find here is guaranteed to help you go a long way toward helping you empower yourself to get some control over this disease. Very few physicians understand migraine disease, and many are frightened of the thought of trying to treat it, I think. In my case, at least, I found being very educated regarding migraine disease actually helped me find a physician who was more knowledgeable and better able to treat me. You can also consider going to a migraine specialist. Tricare will pay better for active duty than dependants. I've found that, even with physicians I've had to pay out of pocket, they did reimburse me somewhat, but of course Tricare never reimburses well. Once again, welcome to the forum. Tracie |

Welcome to MyMigraineConnection, Troy.
As the other folks have said, we have lots of great information and support here. In addition to weather changes, have you identified any other triggers? I know Laura gave you the diary link, in addition we have an entire page full of trigger information you may find interesing. You can find that HERE |

I was out of town this weekend, so I'm a bit late, but I wanted to add my welcome. I'm sorry you need to be here, but I'm glad you've found us.
The gals have given you some good links. Keeping a diary is important, even if you think you've found all your triggers. I still keep one, after years. It really is helpful. Weather changes are the pits for me, too. Barometric pressure either up or down. I used to use Frova to try to prevent them. I'd watch the weather and try to take the Frova about 12 hours before the weather front came through. I estimate it prevented half to 3/4 of my weather-triggered migraine attacks. I'm seeing a specialist, so that's not part of my strategy, but it was worth it while I was doing it. You might ask your doctor. Hang in there! Gretchen in Mississippi |
