Hi, My name is Jim. I started having migraines again back in January of 06 (I had them when I was teen).
They got so intense and started coming every day that in June of 06 I finally had to stop working and haven't been back to work sense. None of the preventative or abortive drugs seem to work for me and I'm not quite sure what a rescue drug is. But this is just an introduction I will whine in another post and hope I don't repeat my self to much.
It is nice to know their are people out there that understands what I am going through and understand the pain every day and the frustration and depression that comes along with the pain.

I wanted to say thanks to all the people that make these sites possible.

Jim

Welcome, Jim!

I understand about not being able to work -- I had to give up a successful law practice because of my head.

Don't give up looking for a preventive. There are more than 100. I've had nearly daily head pain for several years. I'm seeing a specialist now. She's added three meds and changed one. I'm seeing some improvement. A few pain-free days here and there, pain coming on later in the day, and lower intensity. I'm encouraged.

Post everywhere you want. Don't worry about repeating yourself. And Cindy's right: we don't call it "whining;" we call it "venting," and it's welcome at any time. We have a folder for it, but vent anywhere you like.

Hi Jim,

I just retired on disability myself. My main problem is Meniere's disease but Migraine and cluster headaches were my secondary disability.

It's tough. I turned in my badge and cleaned out my desk yesterday. The lobby of my office was full of people and my heart just ACHED to help them. But, that feeling went a way in a few minutes. Cool

In case we haven't given you enough to read--here's one more article! Don't give up on preventatives. There are more than a hundred meds that have shown to be beneficial for migraine.

Migraine Preventive Medications - Too Many Options To Give Up!

Glad you're here.
