My name is Alicia and I am 40+ woman living in North Carolina.

I've been having migraines for years & last night (4-23) had to be the worst one of the lot.

I've been trying numerous medications - some work but most don't. Last night, unfortunately, there wasn't any pain medication in the house.

Just thought I'd introduce myself.

Hi Alicia and welcome!

Sorry to hear you had such a bad time last night! You mentioned "pain medication", can you not take, or have you not tried triptans?

Here are a couple links that are a good place to start:

Migraines: where to start

and if you are not already on preventive medication, and you get 3 to 4 attacks a month, it is definatly something to consider:

Migraine preventives, too many options to give up!

Hope you are doing better today!

Keep us posted ok?

Welcome to the forum family Alicia Flower

I'm so glad you found us! Do you see a migraine specialist? I started seeing one in January and he has helped me reduce the length and severity of my migraines. Thumbs Up

If you aren't using one already, you should also keep a migraine diary to help track triggers, the effectiveness of medications you take and any patterns in your migraines.

You've found a great place to share, learn and just talk! Once again, a big welcome to you! I look forward to seeing you around the forum.

Hi, Alicia. If last night's migraine was the worst you've ever had, please contact your doctor and let him/her know about it.

Take a look at this article:

When to See a Doctor for a Migraine or Headache

And welcome to the forum!
