Hi,
My name is Lisa Bratcher-Carley, people call me Liz for short. I have had migraines since I was 11 years of age. When I was in my early 20s I was attacked by a man and my migraines went out of control. That is 10+ years now and there has been so much accomplished in this field. I for one got my PH.D in psychology and my husband is a doctor who deals with 50% of migraine patients that walk into his office. I feel that there has been a lot done for us migrainieurs BUT NOT ENOUGH. My husband encounters this everyday with doctors that do not have up to date information. I wanted to e-mail Terry directly on this topic. But I can't find a private e-mail for her.

For myself I have been through every theraputic stuff they threw at me. I have finally found something that has worked. I saw that Terry went to the American Headache association. My husband and I go to many of those each year for up to date info. I can't tell you how many times I have been mistreated by a doctor that is not up to speed. Now that I have the knowledge as well it does not happen anymore but I still get a little shaken because of all of the uninformed docs in the past.

I know the trails Rami Berntstein (harvard) is doing and we are headed in the correct direction. but I wonder will we ever truly find a cure?

Wishing you all well! by the way I call myself migraine community because I have a blogspot called that. www.migrainecommunity.blogspot.comMirgaine community
Have a pain free day!

Welcome Liz,

A fellow Californian!! I have been fortunate in my medical care that I have not encountered the uninformed and mistreatment that many people with migraines have. And I know, especially from the short time I've been on this forum, I am truely lucky in that regard. Even the family practice physicians I've seen have been helpful and knowledgable.

Again welcome and please let us know how we can help and support you.

Cindy

Welcome Lisa,

Glad to have you here.

I hear your frustration about getting poor treatment in the past and desiring better treatment. I am with you there!

Have you heard about the AHDA (Alliance for Headache Disorders Advocacy) AHDA (Alliance for Headache Disorders Advocacy)? It is an advocacy group that is pursuant of better treatments for migraine/headache sufferers.

I think we are the best advocates for our disease and sometimes helping to educate the physicians out there who don't know much about it.

Again, welcome.

Kelly
