Picture of pain-in-the-head!!!

Hi Thumbs Up

I am new on this site and am hoping to find out lots of advice about my situation. I have been suffering from imbalance, dizziness, nausea, headaches, extreme fatigue since Oct 07. This is the 4th 'attack' I have had that has lasted months on end! I was firstly diagnosed with viral labyrinthitis and given anti-nausea/vertigo medication which did nothing to help. I have now been seen by ENT and recently a neurologist who has now said its basilar migraine.

I am not really sure if this is what I am suffering from, as its been going on for months on end and I dont know if this is what happens in basilar migraine...the neuro wants to start me on Topamax (which I have been asking about in some other forums) but I am a bit wary about her diagnosis. I would appreciate any advice or reassurance about this daignosis.

I realise she is an expert and I should value her diagnosis, but its just confusing me so much that the last 3 'attacks' I was diagnosed with viral labyrinthitis and now she says its this BAM. Its driving me crazy and I just want to get back on my feet and back to work!

Welcome to MyMigraineConnection.

You sound very frustrated, I would be too. All "experts" are not created equal, so you may want to seek out another opinion. A Migraine specialist may be your best bet. We have a patient recomeneded list you can find
HERE

I beleive the symtoms of Basilar-Type Migraine do not linger for months on end as outlined in this article by Teri Robert:Basilar-Type Migraine - The Basics

Good luck and keep us posted, ok?
