Hi Everyone,

I posted a reply to MJ in another thread. If you all don't mind I am going to C & P Razzer

A little history on me: I am 23, medically retired from the USAF at 22 due to Chronic Severe Migraines. I woke up with the worst headache of my life in 2005 and had no idea what it was. A few hours into it I was throwing up and finally passed out and ended up in the ER. My husband (then boyfriend) called my Dr, got the approval and rushed me to the ER. I have been having these things since.

I was diagnosed in 2006 and have since been treated by military doctors and finally an awesome Neurologist. I have been put on 3 preventatives, Elavil, Propanolol, and Topamax. I have been prescribed Midrin, Maxalt, Zomig, Fiorinal, Migranal, Imitrex tabs and some other medications I can't recall at the moment.

My Drs now have me carry around an Imitrex Injector kit with me wherever I go and I always have at least 6 shots ready to go. I don't get any aura with my migraines I just get full blown pain and start barfing, so my husband has been trained to administer my shot. My family has a history of aneurisms and I am at an increased risk for them as well.

I really am thankful to have come across this board!

Blessings to all!

Hello and welcome!

Only about 25% of Migraineurs have aura, so you're actually in the majority on that.

You said you keep six injections ready to go. You do realize that the max on Imitrex injections is supposed to be two in 24 hours?

How frequent are your Migraines these days?

Welcome again!

The generally long periods of time between my Migraines are the result of working with a Migraine specialist to refine my preventive regimen. You can see my current regimen HERE.

Thanks every one!!

Ms Teri. 6 on hand in case of an attack. I wouldn't dare take 6 in a 24 hour period. I'd have a whole mess of other problems then, plus my butt would really hurt!! Thumbs Down

I usually am better by one injection, if not by two then it's ER time.

Quick question on the Statdose Pen though...has anyone noticed the spring wearing down? I have been using the same kit for about 3 years now and my husband says it gets harder and harder to inject. He has to increase the pressure each time. Sometimes it doesn't take and he has to try several times. I'm usually in too much pain to notice though.

Oh and Ms Teri, with my new dosage of Topamax as of 1 April my migraines went from about 3-4/week to ZERO in 17 days!! I feel so blessed!!

I look forward to speaking with you all!

Thanks for the well wishes, I'm doing great today. Smiler

Imitrex injection had side effects for me so my doctor changed me to Zomig Nasal Spray for my "wake up" migraines and I just tried Axert last night for a "daytime" migraine and it worked great!

FXTX, let me give you a warm welcome! You heard some of my sob story, but I'll add that I'm 24, and have suffered from migraines (though not as awful as they are right now, thank goodness) since I was in my early teens. One of these days I will be a success story... just not there yet. Thanks again for your kind words on the other thread. Thanx

You are in the best possible place for information and support. That's why I'm here every day! There's no way I would be strong enough to make it through this migraine nastiness without the wonderful people here.

We are very happy to have you here, though sorry you have the need. Take a look around the site and let us know how we can help, ok? Welcome again. Flower

Thank you, for the warm welcome ladies.

You are all so warm and caring, I feel so blessed!

I'm sorry I haven't replied.

I guess I better start a ticker. I went 1-18 April and then BOOM!

I just got out of the ER today...I'm sure you know the rest.

Doing better, the Dr gave me Diladid? It helped. I feel much better.

I had an incredible ER Dr and nursing staff.

Hugs and well wishes to all.

MJ, hope you're feeling better!
