Hello all;

I figured I should sign up; I have been reading posts for over a year now...and have had nothing but good advice from you all. An AMAZING group you all have here; and AMAZING support. Even though they weren't my posts; you don't all understand how much you have helped me on those days that you feel like throwing in the towel. I have suffered from migraines for 12 years; never having any luck with medications. Just recently learning that I suffer from Basilar Migraines; which is why all the triptans weren't working, just making things worse. I just wanted to say hi...and say thank you for you all helping without even knowing it. I plan to post more...so Hello New Family!!! Group Hug Smiler Flower

Hi, Maureen, welcome to posting on the forum. We're glad you decided to join us. I suspect you've already seen our articles on basilar migraines and our list of migraine specialists. If you need the links to those, speak up, and we'll put them out here for you! People with basilar migraines really need to see migraine specialists; other doctors may never have seen another case of it.

Welcome again.

Hey Maureen,

Glad you stopped lurking and dropped in ... welcome.

I have basilar migraine too, in addition to hemiplegic migraine. I just posted a bit in a different thread about some tips and tricks my dad and i have learned over the years. Speak up and ask questions - we basilar types are a bit rare but there are some of us here, and we can help you through the ropes.

Hang in there. I'm on year 9 myself -- this stuff gets old fast, doesn't it? I'm so glad you have a good diagnosis now and are probably on the way to more effective treatment. Go, you.

Welcome, Maureen! Glad you decided to introduce yourself. You already know that this is the best possible place for information and support. We're glad to have you!

A good friend of mine from college is from outside of Danville PA, so I've been in your area once or twice! I'm originally a Jersey girl myself.

Anyway, let us know if we can help you with anything! Welcome again! Flower

Maureen,

Hello and welcome! I'm glad you decided to register and talk with us.

What kind of doctor are you seeing?

I could ask a slew of questions here, but instead, I'll give you a chance to get your bearings and let us know if there's anything in particular we can do to help.

Welcome to the family!

The generally long periods of time between my Migraines are the result of working with a Migraine specialist to refine my preventive regimen. You can see my current regimen HERE.

Terri-
I am seeing a neurologists currently; who I absolutely love! But I am going to be making a trip to Pittsburgh to see a migraine specialist soon. I had seen a few in the past years; however no matter how fabulous their clinics were said to be, I never could gain a relationship with any of them. My migraines are "peculiar" to them; and all they want to do is study me and write about me in journals. I decline that offer because...I need help not to be studied.
