Hi,

Im a newbie from Scotland, cant beleive how much information there is on this site, you guys seem to know far far more about your migraines than we ever seem able to find out in the UK.

I have had migraines and lots of daily headaches for 14 years now and been passed from Dr to Dr, they all promise to help but I never seem to get any better. I dont even know what type of migraine I am suffering from, its never been given a 'name', infact I never knew there were so many different types till I read this site.

I was feeling very low last week, but now feel determined to read and educate myself and find answers.

Thank you for giving me hope,

Minnie Mouse x

Ps. I feel my headaches are more hormonal ( I am 46 ) is there a link to any info on this ?

Hi Minnie Mouse -

Welcome. So glad you found us. I'm one of those women whose migraines got worse as I approached peri-menopause. I'm 49 now. If you search hormonal migraines on this site you'll see a lot of info. See you around the forum!

Hello, Minnie Mouse, welcome to the forum. We're glad you found us.

In answer to your request, I'm going to give you links to a couple of articles that deal with hormonally-triggered migraines. Hormones are a major trigger for me, too; the migraines only went out of control when I became perimenopausal.

FlowerGreetings Minnie Mouse;

I'm like you I just found the site this week and I found lots of information that I was able to actually use with my doctor. I felt totally empowered. So keep reading and learning.

Thanks for the welcome, looks like I have a lot of reading to do and a lot of information to take in.

I have an appoinment with a DR who specialises in treating you 'Naturally' in 2 weeks time, however if this doesnt work I will be back to my normal Dr with info from this site and keep banging away until I get some results.

Many thanks.

Welcome to the forum family Minnie Mouse (I love your name!) Flower

My migraines began when I was 15 but they were only once a month or so then as I got older my migraines increased. Once I hit my mid-thirties they became so frequent I spent more time in bed then at work. I finally began seeing a migraine specialist in January and my migraines don't last as long and aren't as severe.

Here is a great article to help get you started:

Learning About Migraines-Where to Start

One other thing to think about doing is keeping a Migraine Diary. It is a great tool to help identify triggers, track any patterns to your migraines and track how well your medication is working for you.

Once again, a warm welcome to you! If you have any questions, just ask away!

Please let us know how your doctor's appointment goes, k?

Hello Minnie Mouse,
Just thought I'd add my hellos!!
You are quite right about there not being any sites like this one in the UK. It has been a godsend, being able to connect with so many people who know about life with migraines. I'm a mum to a young boy with hemiplegic migraines and I have found the support invaluable!!
Take care and hope to see your posts soon.
Regards
