Hi there. I have been lurking around for a couple of weeks & decided to finally log in & become a member.
I have been a migraineur for 20 years, & perhaps longer as there were often days when I was in high school that I didn't feel well, yet couldn't put my finger on it. I am 38 years old. I believe my migraines are hormonally triggered as the worst ones come at the middle & end of my cycle. That is when I feel the worst. Most of the time I have some form of migraine going on. I have one or two days a month that I feel really really good (I absolutely love those days), but the rest are spent feeling pressure in my head behind my right eye & nausea to a certain degree. I rarely get the throbbing pain, thank God. I often have auras that precede a migraine, but not necessarily. Sometimes they just happen & there are no symptoms.
I have tried many things. I currently am on lisinopril as a preventative & use Treximet as an abortive. I currently go to acupunture twice a week. I will be seeing an immunologist/allergist to rule out any triggers along that avenue. I am looking into finding a migraine specialist in the northeast as I am in Maine.

Question:
For some reason I can't post this without asking a question. Why?

Choices:
Silly computer!
Foolish computer!
Might as well make a joke out of it!
I don't understand how posting works!

I suspect that when you click on the "New" tab, you're clicking the second choice, which is Poll. You need to click the first one, which is Discussion.

Hello and welcome to our forum family! Our goal is to provide everyone with the information and support that we all need to manage our Migraines and/or headaches. To that end, we consider this a “safe harbor,” where nobody tries to sell us anything, and we all use “family-friendly” language so parents are comfortable letting their children read the forum with them.

Please take a few minutes to review our policies and guidelines along with the other information in the START HERE folder. For information about Migraines, a good article to begin with is Learning About Migraines - Where to Start

I think Teri's on the right track with clicking poll instead of discussion off of the New menu. If that's not the case, then I'm baffled. I like your sense o' hoomer about it, though. Blame the 'puter!

Lots and lots of us have migraines related to hormone fluctuations. Here's a link on hormones triggering migraine attacks for you. Mine like to strike perhaps a day or so ahead of things through the first couple of days into it. I'm usually not as bothered by it towards the end.

Hi NuBear!
Welcome to the forum. Definitely take a look at the list Eileen sent you about specialists. It seems like quite a challenge to find good migraine doctors up here in the Northeast, except you're even further north than me.

We're a wonderful little family here. I'm glad you decided to join us Smiler

Hi Nubear! I'm so glad you decided to "unlurk" and you introduced yourself. Welcome Flower

Have you ever kept a Headache and Migraine Diary? It will be useful to track triggers, the effectiveness of medications, and any patterns to your Migraines and headaches. I keep mine on my computer for easy editing.

Also, being able to identify your triggers can help you manage them too. Take a look at this article:

Common Migraine Triggers

Again, welcome to the forum! I look forward to seeing you around Smiler
