Hi. I have been lookin at this site for a couple days and thought I might join in. I like the info I have seen this far. I am Macy, age 24. Have had migraines for over 5 years now. But they are just now becoming chronic, so I am looking for all the info I can find. I saw that some of you talk about meds... I am now on amitryptaline and take frova and midrin when I need it. Sometimes advil for neck tension, but it just doesn't help the headpain anymore. There is just a little of my info. I look forward to looking around here some more. Thanks everyone,
Macy |

Hello and welcome to our forum family, Macy! Our goal is to provide everyone with the information and support that we all need to manage our Migraines and/or headaches. To that end, we consider this a “safe harbor,” where nobody tries to sell us anything, and we all use “family-friendly” language so parents are comfortable letting their children read the forum with them.
Please take a few minutes to review our policies and guidelines along with the other information in the START HERE folder. For information about Migraines, a good article to begin with is Learning About Migraines - Where to Start I do hear you on the over-the-counter meds not doing much anymore. I used to have excellent luck with Excedrin for just about any kind of pain. Same thing with aspirin. Now it's mostly something to try throwing at it, without much results attached. I don't know if your headache is daily or not, but here's a nifty little QUIZ on Chronic Daily Headache (CDH) that you might find interesting. Here's a link to a good article on Transformed Migraine, too. Go ahead and get all comfy. If you're looking for something and can't seem to find it with the search tool, just let us know, and we'll be happy to help as best we can. Dragondrool Forum Moderator ~~8=:>>>> |

Hi Macy and welome to the forum! It's great to have you here, I'm so glad you decided to post.
I used to use Exedrin Migraine quite a bit and learned about Medication Overuse Headache (MOH) from this site. Although I've never experienced it myself, I still remain cautious about the number of days during the week I take any type of medications. You can read more about MOH in this article and quiz: • Medication Overuse Headache: When the Remedy Backfires • Medication Overuse Headache: What Do You Know? What type of Migraine were you diagnosed with? I've got Migraine without Aura. A great tool that I use is a Headache and Migraine Diary. I thought that I knew all of my triggers, but recently I found that cleaning the house with certain products can trigger a Migraine for me. My other triggers are changes in the barometric pressure, poor sleep, and not eating. Here's some information on triggers too: • Common Migraine Triggers Once again, welcome to the forum! Remember, if you have any questions, just ask, we're here to help Laura Forum Moderator |

Thank you for the welcome and the info! This all is news to me and I am finding it rather interesting. Haven't made it through all the info yet, but I its neat to learn all of this. Thanks agian! I am really starting to like the site
I have migraine with aura, I didn't realize there were migraines with out aura. A lot of the times, my migraines are triggered for reasons I can't possibly think of. But I have noticed that stress, hormones, sleep, and weather can affect my pain. What does the headache diary do/for? |

The headache diary helps you to keep track of your migraine events, and can be used to help you identify possible triggers. For example, if you list notes about weather, sleep, and other issues you think might be problematic, you might start to notice some patterns, which might help you to avoid triggers and prevent some migraine events.
