First I want to thank you for providing a method for members of this group to ask such personel questions. I understand that part of this support groups purpose is to help us understand that we need not be ashamed because we have urinary problems. That being said, I am still not comfortable wearing protection to work or other social events. My question is about trying to hold in my urine when away from a bathroom or when I am not wearing a diaper.Sometimes at work when I am doing something very physical, even when I have to climb several flights of stairs I have a sudden very strong urge to urinate. When this happens, I will take all my concentration to stop the urge.I find sitting and and rocking t be very helpful.I then search for the nearest bathroom. My question is,am I doing any harm to myself?
While I can't honestly answer your question as to whether or not you are doing yourself harm, I can try to reassure you about being a bit less embarassed about your protection. I am 24 and have been in diapers 24/7 since 2006. I understand your social fears about wearing them in public. But honestly, I can assure you, only about 1% of the population will notice, and that is if you are careless. There are plenty of discreet, non-bulky products out there that will help you live a more care-free lifestyle than constantly worrying about whether or not you can hold it. A big accident, people WILL notice. A discreet incontinence product under your pants, they more than likely will not. These are just my personal opinions and I know not everyone agrees with my views. Just saying what works for me. Hope this was at least a little helpful.
