Became a diabetic about two years ago and erectile dysfuction began due to the medicine I take. Have ordered Viagra, which has not arrived yet, and am hoping that this solves the problem, do you agree?

From Mitch Tepper at Sexualhealth.com
Assuming there are no contraindications to taking Viagra or the other FDA approved oral medications - Levitra and Cialis, these medications are often helpful for men who have ED secondary to diabetes. However, there are many variables to consider, including type of diabetes, duration of diseaese, and extent of erectile difficulties. ED can be a result of medications, but can also be related to conditions like vascular or neurologic impairment brought on by the diabetes, the natural aging process, diagnosed or undiagnosed cardivascular disease, and smoking. Viagra and the other FDA approved oral medications are prescription drugs, so I would hope the prescribing doctor took a thourough medical and sexual history before prescribing the Viagra and reviewed the other options available such as vaccuum constriction devices and injectable medications.

I'm 26 years old and i'm suffering from ED as far as i remember from 16/17 years of age. I went through the net and found that its common in ages above 40, and looks like mine is an exceptional case. Till 16/17 years age i used to have good erection. It all changed when i started mastubating. I used to masturbate a lot , at an average 3-4 times a day. I remember i never had normal erection after i started mastubating. I never had sex till date and ihave to masturbate to get errection but it wont last long.

I'm healthy person and excersise a bit. I have no colestrol or diabetes. Is there any cure to get to normal. like any kind of surgery or something like that.

I'm planning to talk to a doctor about it. so which doctor should i be visiting. physician??internalMedicine?? direclty a nurologist???

Please advice me on this.
thank you

Response from Dr. Jay Motola, HealthCentral's Urology Consultant
Erectile dysfunction can affect patients of all ages. In a case such as your’s, in all likelihood without any prior history of diabetes, vascular disease, or trauma, it is extremely unlikely that you are suffering from any organic form of erectile dysfunction. Masturbation is not contributing to the erectile dysfunction that you are suffering from. Performance anxiety may be one of the factors contributing to your difficulties. This problem is going to be best treated by either a urologist or a psychologist who is familiar with erectile dysfunction.

Hello I am 18 and i believe i am suffering from ED. I have been smoking marijuana for the past year and i have been on and off of ciggarettes for a couple months as well, since i was about 14 i have been masturbating almost everyday. I recently had sex for my first time a couple of months back and i noticed that i didnt last very long maybe a 5 minutes or so and that i wasnt able to stay full erect the whole time, i later had sex a couple of more times and realized that i had the same problem almost everytime. I can get an erection but if its not being touched or if its idle it goes away within minutes i am very nervous that i have ruined my sexual life forever with my drug and masturbation problem.. please give me any information you can about the reversability of my problem and what kind of doctor i should see, thank you.

I had radical prostate removal in January 2005. I've had some success using levitra in the last 4-5 weeks. Some what of an erection but not enough for penetration.

However, last weekend I took a tablet and a half (about 30 mil) and the difference in the erection was very noticeable.

My question....why can't I contine to take a tablet and a half even though the prescription only allows for one 20 mil tablet? The one tablet doesn't do anything close for intercourse.

Some of you guys are real young for ED. Viagra is becoming a medication for the young if you google it (young men and viagra) I bought some recently from www.prolover.com and am satisfied with the results. It looked to me like there were no negative side effects for the young or at least not enough research done on the subject. The only negative side effect I can see is they are so expensive.

Hi, I am 30. I have sign of ED in recent months
I fail to maintain hard erection 3 - 4 times during the past three months.

I want to try Viagra. However, as I have sex with my wife without using condom (we are planning to have baby), i am afraid that the use of this drug will have negative effect to the sperms, the fertility and other issues.

Do anyone know if it is okay to rely on Viagra when having sex and hope to have baby?
Thank for advice.

I am 45 year old and experience ED often. I have had a number of back surgeries which over time has seemed to contribute to the problem. With that having been said, I still have back problems. I have no blood pressure problems that I am aware of yet I still find it almost impossible to achieve and maintain an erection. I am looking for a Uriologist in Houston, Texas that specializes in the problem. I would rather subject myself to the many tests that are needed to indicate other physilogical causes rather than just have someone hand me sample packs of any type of drug. Can anyone give me the name of a respected Urologist in Houston?

I have a similar posing to the person above who smoked marijuana. i'm in my mid 30s and am experiencing increasing ED. i can masturbate but not as much, it takes longer (or i dont climax at all) and i dont get as hard. sex is more difficult. i noticed this starting a few years ago but it recently has gotton much worse. i tried viagra and there was no effect. i have smoked on a daily basis for a few months at a time for 10-15 years. i masturbate 1-2x/day but now, i am never 100% hard and i can't stay hard during intercourse.

Are there any herbal or cleansing treatments that work if this is caused by marijuana?
