I find that over the years, including as I am now writing in this forum, mornings are the toughest. The anxiety usually overtakes me shortly before I wake up. My eyes open wide 45 minutes before my alarm is set to go off. Then the begin to fill with tears. I guess I'm not to ashamed to admit my anxiety attacks are always accompanied by tears. Nothing triggers these attacks! I had a perfect evening last night, and went to bed at a reasonable hour. I'm at the point where the xanex I am taking usually doesn't work, and is now a meaningless addiction with no pleasurable side effects whatsoever. The main reason for writing this is there is NO ONE to call! Who wants to be awoken at 5:15 am to hear someone balling? Family and friends will always pretend to listen and sound genuinely concerned, but I can't bring myself to ruin their morning just to help ease my anxiety attack.

It was like I wrote this myself. I am having a horrible week and can completely empathize. I feel the same way. This week it has gotten the better of me though and I haven't been to work. I have a call in to my dr. for an appointment and a possible Rx adjustment (I'm probably due for a change). Anxiety is getting worse and I may need to start taking something for it. I'm so sorry. Know that you are not alone crying in the dark at 5:30 in the morning. I wish I could push through it this week like I have in the past. It just seems overpowering and debilitating this week. How do you handle it?

I like you suffer from early morning anxiety. I take my .25 Xanax as soon as I awaken, as it won't kick in until 10 or so.I do find that a sip of coffee and a nice shower and shampoo signal my body to get rolling. I know the worst thing I can do is just lie in bed hoping the feeling will go away as this prolongs it. You aren't alone as this is common for depression. I am fine from about 4 p.m. on. Maybe for now up your morning dose of Xanax. Good luck and stay in touch. sunlover Smiler

hello all,
Hang in there and know that you are not alone at all. So many people experience depression at different times of the day; but early morning is common. I have friends who it is worse for in the afternoons, 2-4pm type of thing.

I agree that it is better to just get up and do something to get your day rolling, or something that makes you feel mellow.
